The Pirate Party announced this week that it will host several upcoming events, including its 2025 Pirate National Conference in California and a nationwide discussion on Pan-American relations. The party also confirmed that it will continue its partnership with the Transhumanist Party.
In a statement published Monday, the Pirate Party confirmed that its national convention will take place in San Francisco on July 4th aboard the SS Jeremiah O’Brien, a historic Liberty ship moored at Fisherman’s Wharf. The event, organized in partnership with the California Pirate Party, is being dubbed “The Pirate Parley” and will also be streamed online for those unable to attend in person.
According to additional information from the California Pirate Party, this year’s convention theme will be “Run for Something,” reflecting the Pirate Party’s current focus on candidate recruitment and outreach. Scheduled discussions will cover topics such as pirate politics, open-source democracy, and disinformation. Delegates will also elect national officers of the Pirate Party.
Ahead of the convention, the Pirate Party will also host Pan-American Day discussions on April 12 and 13 at various veterans parks across the country. According to the national party, these table discussions will provide an opportunity to explore U.S. foreign policy, Pan-American relations, and other Pirate Party issues. A list of specific locations has not yet been released, but the party will provide further details closer to the event.
Additionally, the national party confirmed that it is continuing its collaboration with the Transhumanist Party. The two groups first began working together last December, when the Pirate Party hosted Transhumanist Party representatives on an episode of “Talk the Plank,” its podcast. Around that time, Pirates also participated in an episode of the Transhumanist Party’s Virtual Entertainment Salon. Their next joint event will be a March 30 meeting, which will be streamed on the Pirate Party’s YouTube channel.
Editorial note: Thanks to Jolly Mitch Davilo of the Pirate Party for providing Independent Political Report with information on both upcoming events.
They ought to develop a “Political Compass” to point us in the direction that they think we should go.
It’s cool that there’s a party that cares about Pan-Americanism in the states.
But also: the pirates are having their convention on a boat.
