The Libertarian Party of Georgia recently polled its social media followers on whom they’d like to see as the keynote speaker at its upcoming convention. The party stated that the feedback will help guide its final decision and potentially shape the event’s tone.
The party began soliciting input late last month through Facebook and X, offering followers until this past Friday, August 1, several options for who should address its next state convention. According to a member of the party’s Executive Committee, that convention is set for January 2026 and will include the selection of delegates and alternates to the Libertarian National Convention.
Notably, while the event is billed as the 2025 convention, the party already met in Perry earlier this year for its annual meeting, where the current state leadership was elected. More information on that convention is available here.
On X, the party published a poll listing Ross Ulbricht, Dan McKnight of Defend the Guard, and Greg Lukianoff of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. It also invited write-in suggestions in the comments. Of 60 respondents, half voted for Ulbricht, followed by 18.3% for McKnight and 15% for Lukianoff. The remainder were write-ins, with commenters suggesting names such as former Libertarian National Committee Chair Angela McArdle and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
On Facebook, the party shared an accompanying post drawing attention to the X poll and again asked for feedback, adding 2020 Libertarian vice presidential nominee Spike Cohen and local attorney Catherine Bernard, founder of the Spartacus Legal Foundation, as potential suggestions. Bernard also ran for the Georgia legislature in 2024 as a Republican.
Virtually all commenters expressed a preference for Ulbricht, Cohen, Bernard, or some combination of the three. The party is expected to make its decision in the coming months.
