Dustin Coffell to Fill Region 3 North Vacancy on Libertarian National Committee

State affiliate chairs of the Libertarian National Committee’s Region 3 North have selected Missouri party chair Dustin Coffell to fill a vacant regional seat, following the resignation of Dustin Nanna from the role earlier this month.

In a January 18 email shared with Independent Political Report, LNC Vice Chair Paul Darr confirmed that Coffell was chosen to complete the remainder of the Region 3 North term, which runs through the Libertarian National Convention in May. Darr said Coffell is expected to finish the onboarding process later this week once LNC staff returns to work.

The vacancy was created earlier this month when Nanna, who also chairs the Libertarian Party of Ohio, announced his resignation from the national committee as he prepares for the birth of his first child. The region was divided into northern and southern seats following the 2024 Libertarian National Convention, with the North seat representing the Libertarian Party affiliates in Missouri, Indiana, and Ohio.

Coffell currently serves as chair of the Libertarian Party of Missouri, a position he has held since 2023. He has also previously run for elected office, serving as the Libertarian nominee for Missouri’s 70th House District in both the 2022 and 2024 election cycles.

Independent Political Report previously reported that Region 3 North Alternate Greg Hertzsch would likely assume the seat under LNC bylaws governing vacancies. Instead, the region opted to select Coffell to fill the position. As of January 19, the Libertarian Party’s national website continues to reflect Hertzsch as the Region 3 North alternate.
