Hal Shurtleff to Address Constitution Party of New Hampshire State Convention

The Constitution Party of New Hampshire has announced that Hal Shurtleff, co-founder and director of Camp Constitution, will serve as the featured guest speaker at its state convention later this month in Chichester.

The party previously shared details that it will hold its convention on February 22 at Hope in Christ Church, with its annual business meeting scheduled to begin at noon. The event will include a catered lunch provided by a local farm, leadership elections, proposed bylaw updates, and a raffle in support of the organization.

In a formal call to convention published this week, the party confirmed that Shurtleff will deliver guest remarks during the program, speaking on “the Presidency.” Shurtleff is a U.S. Army veteran and longtime constitutional activist who co-founded the Massachusetts-based Camp Constitution in 2009 as an all-volunteer educational initiative focused on U.S. history, constitutional principles, and grassroots organizing.

Since its founding, Camp Constitution has hosted recurring educational workshops and developed a media presence that includes a radio show and online publications. As a lecturer for the organization, Shurtleff has frequently addressed topics such as opposition to an Article V constitutional convention, the United Nations’ 1992 action plan known as Agenda 21, the historic contributions of Black Americans, and strategies for becoming a “more effective freedom activist.”

Shurtleff was also a plaintiff in Shurtleff v. City of Boston, a 2022 free-speech case that reached the U.S. Supreme Court and ended with a unanimous ruling in his favor. In that decision, the Court held that Boston violated the First Amendment by denying Shurtleff and Camp Constitution permission to raise a Christian flag on a city flagpole that had previously been made available to other private groups, finding that the city engaged in viewpoint discrimination.

Ticket information for the state convention is available through the Constitution Party of New Hampshire. While the event is open to the public, the party has stated that voting on business items will be limited to current dues-paying members, and attendees wishing to participate in party business are encouraged to contact the state party secretary in advance.
