The North Carolina Forward Party will host a virtual town hall featuring former Governor Pat McCrory, who will discuss the state’s political system and areas where he aligns with the organization.
The event is scheduled for May 5 and will be moderated by Kelly McCullen, host of State Lines on PBS North Carolina. Organizers said the discussion will focus on McCrory’s views on the state’s political landscape, including redistricting, election reform, and the role of third parties on the ballot in future elections.
The one-hour event is expected to include opening remarks, a State of the Party update from North Carolina Forward Party leadership, and a live question-and-answer session with McCrory. The party also plans to spotlight recent developments and provide an update on its efforts to secure ballot access.
McCrory, who was elected governor in 2012 as a Republican and served one term, has remained active in North Carolina politics since leaving office, including speaking out on election issues otherwise prioritized by the Forward Party.
Addressing members of the Greater Fayetteville Chamber earlier this year, he said the two major parties have “rigged” election rules to block competition from independent candidates and use gerrymandering to shield most legislators from general election challenges.
McCrory was also active with the No Labels organization in 2024, helping it secure ballot access in the state as it weighed a presidential ticket for that election cycle.
The event is open to the public, though advance registration is required. Organizers said access information will be distributed by email to those who sign up ahead of time.
