A “spokesman” from Democratic candidate for US Senate Alexi Giannoulias in Illinois has said that he doesn’t “see [a Green victory for LeAlan Jones] happening,” and attributed Jones’ high poll numbers to the survey being taken early in the campaign. Jones has polled as high as 14 percent, receiving 26 percent support among African Americans. Read the full story here.
A spokesman for Democratic candidate Alexi Giannoulias told TPM Monday he’s not worried about third-party candidates affecting the Illinois Senate race — despite a Public Policy Polling survey released last week that found Democratic State Treasurer Giannoulias neck-and-neck with GOP Rep. Mark Kirk, 31%-30%. Green Party candidate LeAlan Jones polled at a surprising 14%.
Giannoulias spokesman Matt McGrath said that at this point “nothing would surprise us” about polling numbers, as “it’s still very early” in the campaign.

That’s doubtful, with this poll and the Green Party’s history in Illinois.
It’s likely that Giannoulias hasn’t even heard about the Green Party candidate. He’s been a very lazy and uninvolved campaigner, coming from the old Democratic school of politics that considers winning the Democratic primary as winning the General election.
The Greens have an advantage in that, at least.
The democrat is right-about this. Early polls usually show higher numbers for the third party/independent. Don’t worry. They will tank by election day.
Yes, but; that money was from an organization with ties to the GOP, and the thinking in much of the TX GP is that the GOP wants a greeen on the ballot to stop the Democrat candidates. I’m no fan of the Democrats by any means, but isn’t this, well, sleazy on the part of the Greens to have taken this money from a GOP front? It makes the Greens look like tools of the GOP.
Or, are you being ironic?
Has anyone seen this post at the statesman…
says the Green Party of Texas paid over $500,000 to gather all those signatures to get on the ballot…
What an amazing Green Party success…

The Green Party’s LeAlan Jones is an excellent candidate, running a superb campaign. Professional. Efficient. Effective.
First class Green Party work by another young Green Party candidate.
