PA-15: Towne Announces Successful Ballot Access Drive, Criticizes Double Standard

From Jake Towne for Congress:

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has accepted the signatures submitted, and Jake Towne is now an official candidate for United States Congress in Pennsylvania’s 15th district which covers Northampton, most of Lehigh, and parts of Berks and Montgomery counties. Towne, an independent, will square off against two Establishment-backed career politicians in the November 2nd election.

While 3,629 signatures were required to list Towne on the ballot, the campaign submitted far more in excess. The Republocrat competition has until August 9th to challenge the signatures.Towne had to file about four times more signatures than his opponents. Republocrats must file 0 signatures for the general election and just 1,000 to be listed in their primary elections.

Candidates for President of the United States, Governor of Pennsylvania, and U.S. Senator file just 2,000 signatures.

Towne thanked his volunteers saying, “Thank you all for working so hard to give the people a chance to avoid their annual dosages from the failed Arsenic Party of the “Right” and the Cyanide Party of the “Left.” It is time to restore fiscal sanity to the federal budget and stop the endless debt and endless wars!” . . .

Apart from being off-topic, the above comment rant is economically ignorant. It was also not written by Lake and the author and source are not identified.

  2. I live in Wisconsin’s sixth district, and am represented by Tom Petri, Republican. It’s just about time to end that.

I don’t want to be represented by a Republican who believes that Supply-side economics works, or that tax cuts create jobs.

I don’t want to be represented by the special interests that he has collected; groups like the Railroad Industry in Wisconsin, or the Air Transport Industry, Attorney Groups, Public Worker Unions, Boeing, the National Beer Wholesalers Association, amongst a slew of others.

In essence, I don’t want to be represented by a career politician who has never held a real job in his life, and has sucked off of the public teat for too long.

I don’t want to be represented by a man who:

    * Voted NO on letting shareholders vote on executive compensation, but voted yes on it two years prior. (Jul 2009)

    * Voted NO on prohibiting job discrimination based on sexual orientation. (Nov 2007) Are you kidding me, Tom? Are we living in Afghanistan?

    * Voted NO on regulating the subprime mortgage industry. (Nov 2007) We see how well that turned out, don’t we, Tom?

    * Voted YES on $9.7B for Amtrak improvements and operation thru 2013. (Jun 2008) Now you can see how all that railroad money really came in handy.

    * Voted YES on Permanent Normal Trade Relations with China. (May 2000) Free Trade has destroyed our economy. Thanks, Tom.

    * Voted Yes on every Free Trade agreement, and also voted yes on ‘Fast Track’ authority for trade agreements. Can’t wait to betray American workers, can you, Tom?

Different GP Conservative is a bit deluded.

We now have a pro-single-payer healthcare, pro-labor, anti-war candidate for US Senate. Mel Packer brings popular positions on issues the old party candidates would rather not discuss. It is time to demand and end to our trillion dollar wars. Don’t sell your vote short.

    Go get ’em, Jake!

  5. A Different Green Party Conservative August 3, 2010

Jake Towne should join the Green Party. Pennsylvania is a great Green Party opportunity state, with future great Green Party conservative activists like Chris Matthews, Arlen Specter and Rick Santorum.

  6. ‘….. a chance to avoid their annual dosages from the failed Arsenic Party of the “Right” and the [failed] Cyanide Party of the “Left.” ‘

not quite ‘Democans’ and ‘Republicrats’ —– but I like it ………

Lake: I am a long term skeptic of COIP, but have Independent Voter and Jake Towne gotten together in a mutual admiration society, love fest and endorsement apparatus?
