Poli-Tea: Over 600 Third Party and Independent Candidates for Governor, US House and Senate

Over the weekend, I completed what will probably be my final update of Poli-Tea’s list of third party and independent candidates, 2010.  The page now lists over 600 third party and independent candidates for governor, US House and Senate in all 50 states, and links to about 500 campaign websites.  Though the list is not complete (I am sure there are candidates I’ve overlooked – apologies), it is still fairly comprehensive.

Though there are many races across the country in which voters will be presented with a choice only between a Republican and a Democrat, if they have a choice at all, the hundreds if not thousands of third party and independent candidates for office at all levels of government nationwide demonstrate that there are indeed alternatives to reproducing the joint misrule of the Democratic and Republican parties.

In compiling the list, I relied to a great extent upon the Green Papers and Politics 1, which were indispensable resources for the project.

  1. News 23 September 2010:

Some House and Senate Democratic officials believe the timing would make it easier to extend the Bush-era tax cuts set to expire in January.

But who gets a break on their tax bill — everyone, or just what Obama calls the middle class — still would likely be the subject of heated debate.

The Senate’s No. 2 Democrat, Dick Durbin of Illinois, described an election-driven stalemate unlikely to lift in the next five weeks, when many lawmakers up for re-election would prefer to be home campaigning. All 435 seats in the House and 37 in the Senate are on the line.

“We are so tightly wound up in this campaign that it’s impossible to see a bipartisan answer to the challenge we face,” Durbin, the Democrats’ vote-counting whip, said. “That’s the reality before the election.”

Reflections: Merdecracy By James A. Montanye (Independent Scholar)

No single term aptly characterizes the vulgar essence of the fraud and corruption now rampant in the legislative process.

The neologism merdecracy, along with its scatological subsidiary concepts, underscores the filthiness of current lawmaking practices.

  3. As I kept telling California Peace and Freedom folks and national ‘reformists’ for YEARS: if ya don’t have a pony in da race, bet on some one else’s nag.

In 2004 it was like pulling teeth to get local endorsements for Donald Grundman and state wide support for Judge Jim Gray ……….

Generally tho, on the so called tea party movement *eyes open, eyes open*
