Update on the Malik Rahim campaign

Green Party members are organizing on the Wired For Change site and Green Change to support Malik Rahim’s Congressional election campaign in Louisiana District 2. They are looking for people to go to New Orleans between 11/29 and 12/6 to volunteer, make a video for the campaign, make phone calls from home, organize on Facebook or MySpace, give a contribution to the campaign, and more.

Hurricane Gustav has delayed the election until December 6th, and Malik Rahim is running for Congress against Rep. William Jefferson, who is indicted for bribery. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, when the federal authorities failed to help, Malik Rahim organized thousands of volunteers to provide food, health care and other basic services to hurricane victims.

There is also a Libertarian candidate in the race, Gregory Kahn, but I have not been able to find anything out about him except his name and that he is running in this race; please comment if you know more.

Oops, poor editing. That was supposed to be part of the following sentence. I’ll fix that.

“Give a contribution to the campaign”

I dunno if you wrote this, Paulie, or if it was simply written somewhere, but you might want to change it to “Greens suggest you…”
