National Black Radical Political Congress Endorses Cornel West and Melina Abdullah for 2024 Presidential Election

The National Black Radical Political Congress, an organization that provides support to candidates and parties in pursuit of liberating Black Power, endorsed Cornel West and running mate Melina Abdullah for the 2024 presidential election late last week.

The National Black Radical Political Congress is a collective of Black workers, students, and activists who seek to unify Black Americans around revolutionary politics by facilitating discussions, introducing proposals for electoral groups, and acting as an informational hub and resource center for similar organizations. The Congress emerged as an extension of the original National Black Political Convention held in Gary, Indiana, in 1972, and provides a platform for third party and independent candidates to train, organize, and fund their campaigns around the liberation of Black Power.

Cornel West announced the endorsement via his official Twitter account on Friday, saying that he’s “deeply blessed to be endorsed by this historic organization.” The Congress also announced its support of the ticket on its official website.

While the Congress itself is not an organization with ballot access, its National Organizing Committee consists of representatives from various state groups, including those that state they are electorally active. Political organizations involved with the Congress include the Ujima People’s Progress Party in Maryland, the New Afrikan Independence Party in Pennsylvania, and the African People’s Socialist Party in Florida, among others.
