The Forward Party announced its first round of endorsements for candidates seeking federal office this election cycle. The party named four individuals, including three congressional candidates and one candidate for the United States Senate.
In a press release published by the Forward Party this past May, the party announced that it is supporting two Democrats, a Republican, and an independent candidate in its first round of federal endorsements. Included in that list are John Avalon, a Democrat running for New York’s first congressional district; John Curtis, a Republican running for the United States Senate in Utah; Shelane Etchison, an independent candidate running in North Carolina’s ninth congressional district; and Adam Frisch, a Democrat running for Colorado’s third congressional district.
“These four leaders from across the ideological spectrum each embody our values and are looking to unseat or defeat extremists or partisans who are more interested in fighting for ‘their team’ than the American people,” the party said of its recent endorsements.
Notable among the list is Shelane Etchison, who is likely the first independent or unaffiliated candidate to appear on the ballot in her district’s history since North Carolina adopted the secret ballot. According to the Forward Party, it intends to release another slate of endorsed candidates later in the cycle. However, it has not yet announced when it will release the second round of endorsements or the specific process behind the selections beyond what it shared in this release.
At least the Forward Party is supporting candidates, unlike those dilletantes of the No-Labels Non-party Party, who wasted a lot of time and money, and accomplished nothing.
