The Colorado Secretary of State’s office clarified in an email shared Wednesday that it will place the Libertarian ticket of Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat on the state ballot later this year. The response comes after several weeks of inquiries from both state and national Libertarian Party members.
According to the email, which was initially sent to Libertarian National Committee Secretary Caryn Ann Harlos as an individual party member and shared on the LNC business list, the Colorado Secretary of State’s office has received valid paperwork nominating the ticket, including acceptance forms from the two candidates themselves and the names of ten presidential electors from Colorado.
“These filings appear to match the nomination made by the Libertarian Party at their national convention as reported by the party itself here,” the response reads. “Under Colorado law, this is a complete filing for President and Vice President for the party and as of this moment, Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat will be listed as the Libertarian Party’s nominees for President and Vice President on the November ballot.”
The email also suggests that there may be an effort to withdraw Oliver and ter Maat as the Libertarian candidates; however, the Secretary of State’s office clarifies that only the candidates themselves can withdraw their nominations by filing a proper letter of withdrawal. Additionally, while presidential electors in Colorado are bound to vote for the candidate they represent, they can still choose to withdraw from their role. This withdrawal, however, does not affect the candidacy itself.
In the absence of a withdrawal form from either candidate, the Secretary of State’s office concludes that it will proceed with placing the ticket on the state ballot.

Looking below, it is clear who attacked whom. He then managed to go so far as to get the first version of one of his comments deleted after it had already been placed. It is so painfully obvious Seebeck is the one being reprimanded for violating the civility policy that even you should have no trouble figuring it out, “Just Me”. And it would be in your best interests to learn from his mistakes and start adhering to the civility policy yourself for a change, o disingenuous one. But you won’t, because you are incapable of civilty. U+1F60F
Nuña not being civil? I am SHOCKED there’s gambling in this room!
Folks, just a reminder that the site has a civility policy. I understand that IPR attracts readers with a wide variety of perspectives and viewpoints, and the editorial team tries to be accommodating, especially as those perspectives relate to thoughts on the site, the authors, and its articles. However, please limit comments directed personally at other readers.
What happened to the first version of your pathetic comment, huh?
You are the one who should keep digging that whole. Though I assure you, it is already more than big enough to bury you.
You have zero honesty and integrity. You’ve never had any to start with. Even you degrees are fake. A bachelor of ARTS in mathematics? Really? You are a completely and utter fraud whose never achieved anything in life.
Meanwhile, I have quite literally put my life on the line for liberty. If I use my name, I will be likely disappear, have an “accident” or “commit suicide”, exactly because I am an actual libertarian; unlike (national) socialist frauds like you, who have nothing to fear from the totalitarian regimes you work so had to prop up.
That’s why you are an LP official complicit in election fraud, and I have never been a member of your statist circus.
It is you who owes a huge apology, not only to me, but to every single libertarian who has ever been foolish, misguided or naive enough to ever have been in your party while you tried to betray them and screw them over.
So stop projecting and keep digging, you child abuse facilitating creep. Because you should be rotting in jail, and may be soon, but if not then at least I look forward to watching you burn in hell.
Bring receipts, Nuña. Use your real name, too, if you have any integrity or honesty, which you obviously do not.
You want to attack MY honesty and integrity? You’re so far below my level, you need a Falcon Heavy to get up there.
Unlike you, I do know how these things work. That’s why I am where I am at in the LP and you’re not even in it.
So put up or shut up.
As usual, former Colorado media director and current national judicial and platform committee member Michael Seebeck, who is complicit in the irregularities, transgressions and violations that took place at the 2024 national convention to ensure the Oliver-ter Maat ticket would be illegitimately nominated, is being profoundly dishonest and trying to pass it off as if he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
The LPCO does control the ballot line for President in Colorado and always has. They also deal with state-level candidates (including Congressional). They have always dealt with Presidential Electors in state convention, despite any attempts to undermine the Convention Rules in 2022.
The LPCO Board of Directors does nominate the Libertarian presidential ticket that will appear on the Colorado ballot. That’s never done by the national Convention Delegates. In particular, the national committee’s secretary can not certify a nomination that is not approved by the LPCO Board of Directors.
And Seebeck knows this damn well, having been a Colorado voter and resident for 38 years and on that Board, not to mention having repeatedly tried to undermine these Bylaws and Convention Rules.
As usual, “Nuña” doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
LPCO does not control the ballot line for President in Colorado and never has. They only deal with state-level candidates (including Congressional). They have only dealt with Presidential Electors in state convention because of tradition before I got that put into the Convention Rules in 2022.
The LPCO Board of Directors does not nominate the Libertarian presidential ticket that will appear on the Colorado ballot. That’s done by the national Convention Delegates. (BTW, exactly ZERO of LPCO’s delegates voted for RFK!).
But what do I know, having been a Colorado voter and resident for 38 years and on that Board, not to mention co-author of most of their Bylaws and Convention Rules?
Since being elected, Griswold has used her position as a platform for her partisan political ideology and has proven herself unfit for this elected position. Her partisan political beliefs are constantly the subject of her communication to the state, indicating her lack of respect for facilitating unbiased and fair elections.
She denied Trump his right to due process by making public statements in her capacity as secretary of state, who should remain neutral and unbiased, falsely accusing him of inciting an “insurrection” when he had not been found guilty in any court of law. Then she began publicly disparaging the Supreme Court, Congress and those impeaching her inability to behave herself as befits the state’s chief elections officer:
“I am disappointed in the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision stripping states of the authority to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment for federal candidates. Colorado should be able to bar oath-breaking insurrections from our ballot.”
“I do believe states should be allowed under our constitution to bar oath-breaking insurrectionists,”
“I believe Colorado should be able to bar oath-breaking insurrectionists from our presidential ballot, but the U.S. Supreme Court disagrees,”
“It’s as clear as day what Donald Trump did. He incited that violent mob to rush onto the Capitol to try to stop the peaceful transfer of presidential power.”
“If we had a functioning Congress, we would not be in the situation we are in today with American democracy,”
“I will not be intimidated from doing my job from stunts like this [impeachment resolution against me]”
“I was elected in the midst of Donald Trump already beginning his attack on democracy. Every year of his presidency, his attacks grew worse and worse. I ran for Secretary of State to protect the right to vote, and that means countering any person’s, including the former president’s, lies about our election,”
@Richard Winger
Griswold did not contest the Anderson claim, did remove Trump off the ballot and filed supportive legal briefs against his inclusion to the US Supreme Court. This is all a matter of record.
Congratulations to the voters of Colorado for having an opportunity to vote for Libertarian Party nominees Chase Oliver and Michael ter Maat for President and Vice President. I look forward to voting for them in Florida.
Apart from defamation, dismissing valid signatures, and now pretending that legally impotent and meaningless nominating certificate from the LP national secretary somehow can substitute for the LPCO’s legitimate nomination certificate? Well, election fraud for starters: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/09/democrat-colorado-secretary-state-mails-postcards-illegals-dead-people-urging-vote/
What law did Jena Griswold break? If you are thinking she tried to keep Donald Trump off the 2024 Republican primary ballot, she did not. A former Colorado Secretary of State, Norma Anderson, sued to take Trump off the Republican presidential primary. The Colorado Supreme Court then removed Trump, but the US Supreme Court reversed.
The LPCO controls the LP’s ballot line in Colorado, not the national party; and so the LPCO board of directors are the ones who nominate the Libertarian presidential ticket that will appear on the Colorado ballot, not the national party’s chair and secretary.
Jena Griswold is no stranger to breaking the law, but this could become one hell of a lawsuit if the LPCO decides to sue – which I therefore naturally hope they do, though I doubt they’ll consider it worth the time and effort.
