Members of the Constitution Party of Idaho selected Joel Skousen as the party’s presidential nominee over the weekend. Skousen was one of three candidates actively seeking the party’s presidential nomination at its recent state convention.
The Constitution Party of Idaho updated its website to reflect Skousen as the winner following the convention held on Saturday. According to information shared by the party leading into the weekend, three candidates submitted letters of intent to the party’s Executive Committee, including Skousen, Shiela “Samm” Tittle, and Dr. Daniel Cummings. However, the party has not yet released specific delegate vote totals for the nomination or the results of other business conducted during the convention.
Earlier this year, the national Constitution Party nominated Randall Terry and Pastor Stephen E. Broden. However, several state parties no longer affiliated with the national organization have fielded their own individual presidential nominating processes this election cycle, including Idaho, Oregon, and Utah.
With the addition of the Constitution Party of Idaho, Joel Skousen is now on the ballot in three states. He previously won the support of the Constitution Party of Utah and the Independent American Party of Nevada. Skousen has also told Independent Political Report in a previous interview that he is filing as a write-in candidate in Arizona, California, and Washington as part of his “Western-states campaign,” which he said would focus on “alerting people about the deep state control of the government.”
