The U.S. Pirate Party has published a series of updates from its state affiliates following the organization’s December meeting, including future organizing meeting details and efforts to expand elsewhere. The party said it also plans to place greater focus on the work of its national committees in the coming year.
The Pirate National Committee met remotely on December 28 for its final regular meeting of 2025. In a recap published Monday, the party shared updates from its Arizona, Illinois, and West Virginia state affiliates. The update also included a renewed call for volunteers, particularly in Idaho, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia, where organizers said only a small number of additional members are needed to establish official state affiliates.
The Arizona Pirate Party announced plans to hold its first in-person meeting of 2026 in the Tucson area, with the event expected to take place at a public library. According to the update, discussions will include goals for the coming year, the Blase Henry campaign for one of two state House seats in Arizona’s 17th Legislative District, and other organizing priorities. The Arizona affiliate said it has also been assisting organizers in Nevada and Colorado as they work to form official Pirate Party organizations.
The Illinois Pirate Party reported that it has scheduled meeting dates for 2026 for both the statewide organization and the Chicagoland Pirate Party county affiliate. The first Illinois Pirate Party meeting of the year is scheduled for January 4 and will be held virtually using Jitsi. While most meetings are expected to remain virtual for now, in-person meetings for both groups are anticipated to resume beginning in August.
In West Virginia, the party did not provide an organizational update but shared information for individuals in the area surrounding Keyser who are seeking a warm place to sleep during the winter months. According to information shared online, the location is the Lighthouse Assembly of God in Keyser.
The party also released a brief update on its national committees, stating that it will place a renewed focus on their work. Weekly meetings are scheduled to begin for the Platform, Outreach, Information Technology, and Press Committees. The party also named Cy Kindsfather, its public relations director, to serve as chair of the Outreach Committee.
