MEDIATION PROPOSAL FROM THE SALIBA GROUP

As the dispute between the Libertarian National Committee and the defendants, Michael Saliba, et al, is rooted in the disagreement within the Michigan Libertarian Party between two groups claiming party leadership as the legitimate LEC and the LNC choosing to recognize one of these groups claim, and the Michigan Libertarian Party’s bylaws do not allow for a convention that would allow its members to settle the dispute with an election, it is requested that the court consider the following proposal for Michigan Libertarian Party convention for party members to settle the dispute for party leadership and end the need for the LNC to choose which Michigan Libertarian Party members are granted use of the LNC trademark and logo.…

Mediation Date Set in Libertarian National Committee, Inc.. v. Saliba (5:23-cv-11074)

On October 4, 2023, U.S. District Court Judge Judith Levy ordered mediation in the lawsuit Libertarian National Committee v. Saliba, E.D., 5:23cv-11074. This order came two days after the Libertarian National Committee submitted documentation arguing against a Motion to Stay and in defense of a preliminary injunction against the Michigan organization that had identified itself as the official Libertarian Party of Michigan affiliate.

The Libertarian National Committee has made a 200-page filing asking for a preliminary injunction against Michigan Libertarians Mike Saliba, Rafael Wolf, Greg Stempfle, Angela Thornton-Canny, Jami Van Alstine, Mary Buzuma, Dave Canny and Joseph Brungardt, asking that they be enjoined from using the LNC’s trademarks “Libertarian Party” and “Libertarian Logo”.…
