Brendan Kelly, Former NH Libertarian Chairman and Elected Official, Has Passed Away

Brendan Kelly, a former chairman of the New Hampshire Libertarian Party and a 2012 congressional candidate, has passed away at the age of 80 following a 5 year battle with cancer.

Kevin Zeese, an attorney and IPR contributor who posted 44 articles on this site, has died, Ballot Access News reports.  Zeese was heavily involved in the Green Party and the Howie Hawkins 2020 campaign for president.  He reportedly died suddenly of a heart attack on September 6 at the age of 64.… Read more ...

2016 Socialist Party USA Nominee Mimi Soltysik Dies

As reported at Ballot Access News, the 2016 presidential nominee of Socialist Party USA Emidio “Mimi” Soltysik died earlier today at the age of 45.  He reportedly suffered from liver cancer.

Libertarian activist Stephen P. Gordon died unexpectedly September 5, 2018 at the age of 56. An Alabama native, Gordon resided in New York since 2014, working for Project Veritas.

Last week, Roy Innis, a Civil Rights leader and registered member of the Libertarian Party, died at age 82.  He had suffered from Parkinson’s Disease.

Rob Sherman Dies in Plane Crash

As reported by Ballot Access News and the Associated Press, Rob Sherman, former chairman of the Green Party of Cook County (Illinois) and frequent Green Party candidate for public office, died in a plane crash over the weekend.

The McHenry County Coroner confirmed Sherman died after crashing his small plane into a cornfield on either Friday or Saturday.  … Read more ...

John Wayne Smith Dies

John Wayne Smith

According to Libertarian Party of Florida (LPF) Region 6 Representative Vicki Kirkland, former Florida gubernatorial candidate and LPF Vice-Chairman John Wayne Smith has died.  He was 69.

In an e-mail to the LNC, Kirkland reports:

John had been dealing with cancer for several years and went into the hospital in August for an operation.

New York Times Publishes Obituary of Howard Phillips

Howard J. Phillips, a pillar of conservative activism who ran for president three times on the ticket of a political party he helped found, died on Saturday at his home in Vienna, Va. He was 72.

The cause was temporal frontal lobe dementia, his sister, Susan Phillips Bari, said.

Green PA township supervisor dies at 70

Spring Brook Twp. Supervisor Harry Blumer, 70, died Thursday while visiting the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg, longtime friend and fellow township Supervisor Jack Flyte confirmed Friday afternoon.

Founder of the British People/Ecology/Green Party dead at age 80

On August 21 Teddy Goldsmith died at the age of 80.  He was not a typical environmentalist, as the Guardian explains:

Over the years this belief cost him friends and allies as the green movement drifted gradually to the political left. His stubbornly conservative vision, and his commitment to “stability”, “tradition” and the teachings of ancient religions were at odds with the views of “progressive” green proponents of “multiculturalism” and “social justice”…

Goldsmith was a prominent figure on the radical wing of the international green movement and one of its most potent intellectual forces.
