Death Notice: Robert David Steele

Robert David Steele (Vivas), a 2012 candidate for the Reform Party’s presidential nomination and briefly a candidate for the Libertarian Party’s 2016 presidential nomination, died of COVID-19 last month (August 28) at the age of 69, the Maine Public reports.

Steele, an open source activist and former CIA officer and Marine, called the COVID-19 pandemic a hoax (claiming to be the first to do so) and was a proponent of the Qanon conspiracy theory (including a theory about child slave colonies on Mars). … Read more ...

Markham Robinson Dies at 77

According to Ballot Access News, former chairman of the American Independent Party (AIP) Markham Robinson has died of an unspecified illness. Robinson had been part of the leadership of the AIP since 2008 and is currently listed on the party website as Executive Committee chair. He was 77.

Richard Lamm Dies

Former Colorado governor Richard Lamm, who challenged Ross Perot for the 1996 Reform Party presidential nomination, died yesterday at the age of 85. According to Colorado Public Radio, Lamm died after suffering complications from a pulmonary embolism.

Lamm, who served as governor of Colorado for three terms (1975–1987) as a Democrat, sought the presidential nomination of the Reform Party after industrialist Ross Perot founded the party in 1995. … Read more ...

John McAfee Found Dead

Anti-virus entrepreneur John McAfee, a candidate for the Libertarian Party’s presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020 was found dead today in a Barcelona prison cell, Reuters reports.

The death comes after a Spanish court decided McAfee could be extradited to the US for tax evasion charges. Catalan officials claim the death was likely suicide.… Read more ...

Buddy Roemer Has Died

Former Congressman and Louisiana governor Buddy Roemer, who sought the 2012 presidential nominations of Americans Elect and the Reform Party died today at the age of 77.  The cause of death has not yet been disclosed but Roemer had been in declining health in recent years, suffering a stroke in 2015.… Read more ...

Brendan Kelly, a former chairman of the New Hampshire Libertarian Party and a 2012 congressional candidate, has passed away at the age of 80 following a 5 year battle with cancer.

Kelly was an elected Selectman in the town of Seabrook for six years and mounted three unsuccessful bids for a seat in the New Hampshire state house between 2008 and 2011.… Read more ...

Kevin Zeese, an attorney and IPR contributor who posted 44 articles on this site, has died, Ballot Access News reports.  Zeese was heavily involved in the Green Party and the Howie Hawkins 2020 campaign for president.  He reportedly died suddenly of a heart attack on September 6 at the age of 64.… Read more ...

2016 Socialist Party USA Nominee Mimi Soltysik Dies

As reported at Ballot Access News, the 2016 presidential nominee of Socialist Party USA Emidio “Mimi” Soltysik died earlier today at the age of 45.  He reportedly suffered from liver cancer.

Libertarian activist Stephen P. Gordon died unexpectedly September 5, 2018 at the age of 56. An Alabama native, Gordon resided in New York since 2014, working for Project Veritas.
