Tomorrow, Independent Political Report turns three weeks old. Since debuting on May 21, we have served over 92,000 pages and had nearly 25,000 unique visits.
Today, our dedicated server locked up for 30 minutes due to excessive traffic. Our hosting service as since increased our number of simultaneous connections to hopefully avoid this problem in the future.
Yesterday, for the first time, IPR was the #1 third-party news site on the Web, as measured by both page views and visits, tallying 5,134 page views and 2,432 visits versus 3,087 and 1,663, respectively, from the other leading site, based on SiteMeter statistics taken after 11:30 p.m.
We post this not in an effort to “blow our own horn,” but to thank our readers for making IPR the site it has become in such a short time.
We can do better. We have made mistakes, and we will do our best, going forward, to provide you with the best, most accurate, and most balanced news coverage of third parties and independent candidates anywhere on the Web.

Good job!
By the way I am still interested in blogging here. If there is a conflict of interest in also blogging at TPW, I’d go with IPR, although I do sort of owe them a belated convention report since they eventually re-issued my press credentials.
Then again, they also no longer link to me, LFV, Knapp or Bennett, so maybe I do not owe them anything.
I have IPR’s advertising button graphic on my campaign site.
*warning…cheap plug coming in 3…2…1…
You know, over at http://www.votegatties.org
🙂
Wow! Your site looks AWESOME, Jason.
Thanks bro 🙂 Took us long enough. Infact, we still have like 2 sections that we still need to finish.
I second that.
Let’s get one of those up at LFV if someone knows how.
One complaint, I have to say:
Please, if something’s just a rumor, make that abundantly clear!
You have a very good website, thanks for starting it!
Congrats, folks. As to you Jason on the site.
GE, Austin & all the contributors have done an outstanding job. I think TPW will end up being an “after thought” in the very near future.
I may have suggested the idea as well, although it’s likely other people thought of it too.
This site is exactly what I was looking for a couple of weeks ago. You guys do a great job of covering the third parties and the discussions on here have been very civil. Keep up the good work.
As an occasional contributor I suppose I should just keep my mouth shut. I too don’t want to break my arm trying to pat myself on the back, but since I have very little to do with the success of the site, all I can say is, thanks to those who got the ball rolling.
And for the rest…buy a freakin ad, will ya? 😉
Any prices on ads? I’m thinking about putting one up for a book.
No idea Mike, but if you send an email to ads@independentpoliticalreport.com, I’m pretty sure someone will respond.
I will once the book is on Amazon.
I’m going to work on getting the ad system set up ASAP. Thanks for your interest!
Im not going to toot my own horn–but i’ll certainly give GE a firm pat on the back. This is his idea, his project, and his investment–and he’s done GREAT with it. It helped that he brought along the bloggers in the third-party world (Tom Knapp and Austin Cassidy) along with a few lesser-known newbies like Gregg Jocoy and myself. Im proud of everyone here–let’s make this site what it really is capable of.
Thanks, most of all, to all the commenters. Wether its negative or positive, we take time to read through all the comments and consider any and all suggestions contained therein. You keep comin’ back, we’ll keep the news comin’.
I’ve only been reading the site for a couple days but I’ve been very impressed thusfar. Nice work guys…keep it going!
Server crashed again today. I talked with tech support and they said the traffic was not the cause, and gave me a tip on stabilizing the server that will hopefully work. That’s good, since the reason I own the server is NOT for IPR, but for a much more intensive application.
Looking for spacemen? Calculating pi to the last digit? Plotting the genome of the Republicrat? Just what are you doing with all that computer power G.E.? Inquiring minds want to know!
And yes, Trent is 100% right. All credit is due G.E. for this most wonderful accomplishment…and the commentators are indeed an important part of this or any other political site.
