Carl Romanelli heads for the bar

No, not the sort where spirits are served, except maybe the Spirit of Justice. The bar I am speaking of is the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, where former Green US Senate candidate Carl Romanelli is headed.

Romanelli says that the people who challenged his petitions to appear on the ballot in 2006 are criminals, recently arrested on corruption charges, and that his charge of close to $80,000 for reviewing his ballot access petition brought by these same people should be tossed out. The charge, which is not a fine, was similarly assessed against Ralph Nader when his Presidential petition was found to have an insufficient number of valid signatures.

An article, by Tracie Mauriello of the Post-Gazette Harrisburg Bureau, includes this:

A grand jury presentment last week included evidence that those signature challenges were based on work by dozens of Democratic House employees while they were on the clock and being paid with tax dollars.

Good luck to Mr. Romanelli in fighting this outrageous miscarriage of justice.

Regardless of ideology, all independents and alternative party supporters should be backing him in this one.
