Bob Barr blog reports that video of the Reason magazine counter-debate with Libertarian Party presidential nominee Bob Barr is now available:
In other Barr news, the blog has video of the candidate on the Fox program Your World with Neil Cavuto:
Barr has five campaign stops in the Charleston, SC area today, and has been given credit by the American Spectator, Politico Gamedayand the New York Times for helping to stop the Wall Street bailout.
His next campaign swing will be through Illinois and Indiana on Oct. 2-4.

Points for vocabulary.

“I’ll give Bob Barr all the bad advice he wants.”
An inevitable certitude considering the source.
Is that what I said? I’d like to leave it to the reader to decide.
🙂
Glad that you’re OK with it!
Th*t’s p**fectly f*ne wi*h m*
Well, Paulie, I guess I like to leave it to the reader to decide what I mean.
All the comments about where Barr “should” be campaigning . . . well it IS their campaign, and let’s face it, reason and rationalality is in short supply with the Barr campaign, so .. don’t hold your breath or expend any more energy as to WHY they do what they do.
LOL. I’ve never seen creaming treated as a curseword before.
“Barr has five campaign stops in the Charleston, SC area today”
Wow, Stewart Flood must be cre*ming in his pants!

Scratch the quorum thing. It’s old news. They’ve fixed it and are now free to harass with impunity again.
How is Reason not running afoul of campaign finance laws?
A) Exploring possible campaign finance violations by the obscure Barr isn’t top priority these days.
B) The FEC still doesn’t have a quorum on it’s board and can’t function until it gets one. The Senate refuses to confirm the Bush nominees needed to achieve the quorum. Maybe this has something to do with the two Senators running for the presidency?
C) It probably wasn’t illegal, even under our present outrageous laws. All they would have to do was invite some other candidates (perhaps even McCain and Obama would suffice) so that they could say it was an open event but only Barr accepted their invitation. That’s shadowplay of course, since Reason’s in the tank for Barr, but it’s enough.

Get back to my email Jason, you punk.
I’ll give Bob Barr all the bad advice he wants.
I ought to charge, but he wouldn’t listen. He only takes bad advice, and thats advise I wont give. =)
I suppose I can see your reasoning if the end goal is 3rd nationwide and breaking the old record, which I guess is what he’s all about. Why ya giving him free advice Trent, it’s not like he’s shy about consulting fees 🙂
I’m pretty sure the NY Times mention was in a blog, not in the newspaper. Richard Viguerie was quoted in a front page article about the bailout and the House GOP, though.
Why California? Same reason as New York. Both are safely Democratic (presumably) and have pretty heavy concentrations of libertarians,as well as strong state parties.
Spending ALL of his time in Nevada, New Hampshire, Washington, Montana, Oregon, California, New York–etc, would be adviseable.
Why?
How is Reason not running afoul of campaign finance laws?
Trent,
I would like for Barr to campaign in Montana but am uncertain how he would do as Ron Paul is on the ballot here. I do believe the NW is very receptive to libertarian ideas and would also add Wyoming, Idaho, and the Dakotas to your list.
Spending ALL of his time in Nevada, New Hampshire, Washington, Montana, Oregon, California, New York–etc, would be adviseable. States where he is polling high, or battleground states where there are large concentrations of voters who can safely cast their vote for anyone without feeling like they “gave the election to ___”
Is Barr campaigning on states based on where ballot access is hard?
To rack up campaign votes, the best places would be:
New Hampshire
Nevada
Georgia
Ohio
all those would be on the top of the list.
Illinois has tough ballot access I have heard, which may be the goal there. However, with Obama being from Illinois, it may be harder to win the vote.
Still, I am glad to see campaign swings ongoing.
What a horrible day for Barr. Yet another example of the failure of the LP and the Barr campaign. Fox News, The NY Times, The American Spectator, Politico… is that the best they can do? What’s next, mainstream acceptance of libertarian ideas? Lets hope that’s not the outcome of this.
