The Northwest Herald of McHenry County, Illinois, reports blogger Gus Philpott will run for McHenry County Sheriff as a Green. The election is in 2010. Philpott “often writes about law enforcement issues on his blog” and “is known for his focus on traffic issues. On his Web site, gusphilpott.com, Philpott promotes himself as a ‘consumer advocate’ and a ‘traffic crusader.’ Although semi-retired, Philpott still works as a hypnotherapist. He said he had a varied business background that included 15 years as a life insurance salesman.”

I hate to tell you this, but then the only people that you will be voting for are the Democrats and Republicans. Because I endorse ALL third party and independent politicians.
ThirdPartyRevolution, so you support crackpots that have no experience at all running for jobs they are unqualified for just because they are not a republican or democrat? Gus has no experience running any organization even 1/10th the size of the Sheriffs department from what I can tell. I say that as repeated questions posed to him by many people still have not produced any information on his background or his abilities to run the department. His response? He will release that information at some later date.
When you are running for office and hiding all of your past experience, that is never a good sign!
On the internet, all I can find out about him is he volunteered at a department in the late 70’s and sold insurance. He also works part time as a hypnotist (maybe he can hypnotize the criminals?) and is semi retired.
See anything there that says he will be able to handle a 20+ million dollar budget? I sure don’t!

This has to be a joke, right? Guy sold insurance and now is a part time “hypnotherapist” and he thinks that qualifies him to run a 20+ million dollar budget? In the late 70’s he was a volunteer at a sheriff department, so now he can run one?
There is a reason that people in his own town call him “Goofy Gus” and it is not due to a love of Disney characters!
This is just a case of a lonely old guy that wanted to be a cop all his life and could not make it as a real cop. I am surprised that even the Green Party would let him use their name.
