Help Billy get on the ballot! Posted by Dave Schwab

The Reverend Billy Talen for Mayor of NYC petition drive is entering its final week. Billy’s team has gathered the 7,500 signatures they officially need to put him on the ballot as the Green Party’s candidate, but they are still short of the 20,000 signatures that will protect Billy from being kicked off the ballot by a challenge.

The Green Party of Brazil is asking Greens around the globe to write letters urging Marina Silva, former environmental minister and potential presidential candidate, to join the Global Green family. A native Amazonian, union organizer and globally-recognized protector of the Amazon rainforest, Marina Silva’s many honors include being named a “Champion of the Earth” by the United Nations Environment Program. Illinois Greens Begin Statewide Petitioning Effort Posted by Walter

The Illinois Green Party has begun gathering signatures to put candidates on the 2010 February ballot. Since the IL Greens are an established party because their Governor candidate got 10% in 2006, the IL Green Party will have to only collect 5,000 signatures by November 2nd versus 25,000 for new parties and Independents to put their statewide slate on the ballot. The IL Greens have a target of collecting 15,000 signatures to prevent any signature challenges. In 2006, the Democrats made frivolous bad faith signature challenges to the IL Green Party petitions and even challenged the validity of Rich Whitney’s (’06 Green candidate for guv) signature!

LeAlan Jones discusses racism and African-American leadership Posted by Dave Schwab

LeAlan Jones, the 30-year-old Green Party candidate for Barack Obama’s old Senate seat in Illinois, is as angry at injustice as he is at the African-American intellectual and political class that accommodates it. He does not buy Obama’s “post-racial” ideology or have much patience with African-American leaders who, hungry for prestige, power and money, have, in his eyes, forgotten the people they are supposed to represent. They have confused a personal ability to be heard and earn a comfortable living with justice.

Mr. Fincher, I honestly do not understand what you are talking about or how it related to the Green Party USA or to the Green Party Watch website, nor to any of these articles.

Sean Haugh is attacking LNC treasurer Aaron Starr, over Starr’s pointing out of the pretty major bilking of LP’s donors by Sean when he was political director. Aaron Starr was simply being fiscally responsible – which I applaud – but had the audacity to want to hold LPHQ staff to standards of fiscal honesty & integrity.
