Kristin Davis, Warren Redlich, and the NYLP’s Decision

Kristin Davis and Warren Redlich are both running for the Libertarian Party of New York’s nomination for Governor in 2010. Davis is the former businesswoman who provided prostitutes to former Governor Elliot Spitzer. Redlich is an elected Guilderland Town Board member and Lawyer in Albany, New York. Eric Dondero’s site, Libertarian Republican, provides some interesting news about a meeting Davis attended in which she declared herself a Libertarian first–but the real story is what occurred in the comments section of the news post. Warren Redlich suggested, in the comment, that he would be willing to run for a lesser office, perhaps Attorney General, if the delegates determined that was best for the party.

    A) Do you know this for a fact? If so, how?

    B) Have you tried to make contact with the Davis campaign? If so, any luck?

    C) I really do want to get IPR to help get Davis and Redlich into some kind of pre-convention debate, preferably one that can be read/viewed/listened to here.

Failing that, I would love to see us get Ms. Davis on record with an interview, or better yet a Q&A with our readers.

If you can get anything like this arranged, that would be awesome. I think it will pull in readers, too.

“or if she still plans on launching the PFP if she loses?”

    This.

I don’t think Roger Stone’s candidate is a good sell for the LP — Stone has demonstrated over and over again that he’s not to be trusted. Nothing against Davis, but she needs to pick her political friends better.

I actually sort of hope she doesn’t get the Libertarian nomination–not because I don’t think it’ll help the Libertarian Party of NY, but because I’d be interested in her starting another party. She said if she didnt get the LP nomination, she’d create a new party called the Personal Freedom Party. It’ll be interesting either way.

If Redlich truly cared about his party, he’d offer to run for a lesser statewide or legislature office.

It wasn’t my idea to run for Governor. My original interest was in the AG race. I was asked by several people within the LPNY (including two former state chairs) to run for Governor instead.

If the LPNY chooses Ms. Davis, and wants me to run for another office, I’d certainly consider that.

With that said, I believe I’m a better candidate.

Warren, you know I luv ya man. You know I’ve been very supportive of you and your efforts.

I honestly believe it’d be best if you ran for AG. Or, perhaps even Lt. Gov.

This kind of sucks. We’ve got two excellent people, you and Kristin. But in today’s celebrity-driven media world, celebrity wins out. We Libertarians need glamour, excitement and pizzaz.

You could kick ass in the AG’s race.

p] I would be curious to know if Ms. Davis would make a similar commitment to run lower on the LP ticket if she loses the nomination vote, or if she still plans on launching the PFP if she loses?

Also, I would love to see a public debate between Davis and Redlich prior to the LPNY convention. I’m willing to pull IPR blog talk radio out of mothballs for this purpose, if the two candidates/campaigns agree.

As of this time, I have not been able to get in touch with the Davis campaign…

    From Dondero’s article:

“Manhattan Madame (sic) Kristin Davis left no room for doubt about her choice for Party for the Governor’s race. She’s going Libertarian. ”

As of right now the front page of http://kristindavis2010.com/ still says “ABOUT KRISTIN’S CAMPAIGN
New York PERSONAL FREEDOM PARTY candidate Kristin Davis is the only genuine reform candidate for Governor of the most dysfunctional state in the country- New York State. Kristin Davis is the only candidate that offers new ideas and new revenues for New York instead of tax increases and service cuts.”

To be fair, I have no idea who does the campaign’s web work or how recently the site has been updated.
