Green Party Organizers Needed as McKinney Crosses the US with Bike4Peace
A request from David Josue, a Cynthia McKinney supporter. Circulated on Green Party list-serves:
Cynthia McKinney will be stopping in several towns, cities along the route from California to Washington, DC. Although this trip started out as a way to clear her mind and go off grid after the death of her aunt Hazel, it has the potential to advance the cause and promote Green Party building during the trip.
While Cynthia is doing the riding, will it be possible to coordinate a Green Party agenda in every state, cities and town that she will pass through? I am sure that there are Greens along the route. So, a meet/greet and local medias at strategic stops will help spread the Green Party platform. A successful stop can even have a new members registration drive. A screening of American Blackout (http://www.americanblackout.com) before the arrival of the riders will work well in the plan.
What do you think? 2012 is around the corner.
I would assume Bloomberg would run as an Independent. Besides that, I don’t really see him as a Green Candidate. I wouldn’t vote for him as an Independent or a Green.

In a nut-shell, I suggest that since Cynthia has stated and appears to be interested in running again, to let her, support her and encourage her to include Farheen Hakeem as her running-mate. This is a solid and productive ticket on its own, allowing the majority of Green Party energy, creativity and discourse to be focused on expanding our local operations, gaining ballot access, winning a mid-level election and creating some free WordPress templates for candidates.
We do good locally, just add more. We are getting close to a big state rep, congressional or Governor victory, all our creative energy needs to be focused there. Until we win there and double our quantity in local victories (the quality of our local campaigns is good and successful, no need changing it, just add more of it, yes, I’m drilling this point, but it is important) we won’t have a shot at the Presidency.
And a side note, regarding the 33 2012 Senate elections, Nader vs. Lieberman would be monumental. Nader may be talked into running for Senate if convince him that Cynthia and Farheen are strong enough progressives to carry the torch.
This could open up to some involvement with the Peace and Freedom Party, who could endorse our ticket for President (instead of Nader in 2008) and work with the Nader for Senate campaign, helping build both Parties in Connecticut.
Just a thought.

A little background on Cynthia: Her father was the first African American cop in Atlanta. He is an antisemite known for taking ‘walking around’ money from one of the politcal parties to distribute on the street on election day – and pocketing it.

The Green Party needs 435 candidates on the ballot for U.S. House in 2012. The Green Party needs 33 candidates on the ballot for U.S. Senate.
