“Considering we parrot conservatives, defend conservatives, act as if we are on the same side as conservatives and debate using conservative rhetoric, what other conclusions can people draw?”
Mark, if by your statement you mean: conservatives act like fiscal libertarians, act like they are on the same side as us on fiscal issues and debate using libertarian free market rhetoric. Then I agree with you.
I hear this type of thing a lot and it is not surprising.

It’s clear his statements were directed at Dr. Paul. It’s also clear he cares more about social “justice” (promoting one group with a perceived disadvantage over another) than social equality (same rules for everyone and all with and equal CHANCE to succeed). IMHO, Dr. King would be appalled today at those looking to the government for a handout. He spoke about self-reliance fairly often. To quote Mr. King himself:
“I quite agree that there is a great deal that the Negro can do to lift himself by his own bootstraps. Well has it been said by one that Negroes too often buy what they want and beg for what they need. Negroes must learn to practice systematic saving. They must also pool their economic resources through various cooperative enterprises. Such agencies as credit unions, savings and loan associations, and finance companies are needed in every Negro community. All of these are things that would serve to lift the economic level of the Negro which would in turn give him greater purchasing power. This increased purchasing power will inevitably make for better housing, better health standards, and for better educational standards.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
It still stands true today, but the ONLY caveat I would make is replacing the Negroes with Americans.

@Dr. Tom Stevens – Can you provide a name other than a “LP member”? Can you cite an example of Dr. Ron Paul claiming states could discriminate against folks for racial reasons? Every time I’ve heard him speak of racial discrimination it is in regards to private enterprise not funded by tax payers.
If there is a way to get the video to appear above the fold, I don’t know how to do it.

There clearly are Libertarian Party members “who hate the brown folk, the gays and the lesbians.” That is not inconsistent with libertarian principle so long as it’s not the government doing the discrimination. Just recently an LP member wrote that the government has a right to “enforce community standards of decency” and don’t even get me started on Ron Paul (who many call a libertarian) who would allow state governments to discriminate and the many LP members who would abolish the “equal protection clause” of the 14th Amendment.

Bush’s wars, Van? You mean those same wars supported by Democrats? You mean those wars Obama is still waging? I love how this guy admits he plays political games.

Talk, not act.
And what about all the non-fiscal issues?
