At 1 hour 2 minutes Augustus Invictus puts Donald Trump on his loser list for his NSA/government surveillance support.

Sadly immigration policy hasn’t been discussed as of the 52 minute mark.

True, but read closer. She doesn’t explain what she thinks is a libertarian candidate. Is it simply because he registers as such? She doesn’t explain why she is in favor of the change to FS 96.096 that allows AI to be on the ballot in Florida even if the LPF does not want him, and she does not explain why she was in favor of taking away, by force, the ability of the LPF to choose its candidates. She refuses to discuss the Constitutionality of this law she advocates. She avoids examples of AI violating the non-aggression principle in his writings and videos; she seems to ignore them. She never explained exactly how AI “has only been a positive force in our Party. He has done nothing that constitutes violating the NAP” when he obviously has just by advocating to lead a coming civil war and state eugenics program. There’s probably more, but this is off the top of my head. Pablum…

As an end note she does say she is not supporting any candidate, but then marvelously contradicts herself by saying (about Invictus) “I was defending a member of my county affiliate whom I know far better than the people who are attacking him. He is being misrepresented.” True to form, she never says how he is being misrepresented.

  4. Pete Blome November 17, 2015

Yes, it would. But she usually runs away, and the few times she doesn’t, it’s pablum.

“and have leaders, like Vicki Kirkland, who support him?”

It would be interesting to have a long time, committed LPer, such as Vicki, expound on why she supports him. Ms. Kirkland has been around the LP for a long, long time since giving up Goldwater Republicanism (she was actually a South Carolina delegate at the 1964 GOP convention if I recall) and her opinion is certainly worth hearing.

    Andy Craig,
I admire your vigorous campaign. It is vibrant in a way few Libertarian campaigns are. You and I probably agree that there is more than one way to connect with Joe and Jane America. I have seen the Florida LP change but I didn’t notice any scandal that Invictus is personally responsible for. I have yet to see or hear Invictus praise eugenics save for some written words. Even the clickbait websites couldn’t make much of that document. Has Invictus disclaimed state enforced eugenics. Yes he has. I would ask you to at least consider that his campaign focus on the war on drugs is what Joe America is going to see and is worth supporting. He is an unrepentant member of a religious minority. He has used that fact to earn some media. Given that goats are not accorded rights they may be bought and killed in all states and territories of the US I don’t find his admission to be a problem.

  7. Thane Eichenauer November 17, 2015

    Andy,
If it could save a person from a stretch in prison due to the war on drugs I would recruit you and Andy Craig to dance naked in the woods with me. As it I take the line is a way Invictus has to say consider the unthinkable. Do what all would ridicule because much of what is acceptable may not get the job done that desperately needs to get done.

  8. Andy Craig November 17, 2015

Andy Craig 2016: no goats were harmed in the making of this campaign.

    😉

  9. Andy Craig November 17, 2015

“”I follow Andy Craig’s campaign for US House from Wisconsin. His graphics are snappy, his memes are curiously informative. If I lived in his district I would support his campaign.””

    Thanks, I think.

“”I don’t think he is going to educate more people about the awful black power of the DEA as Augustus Invictus is doing.””

There are many things I *could* do that would get as many headlines as Invictus, but I don’t think either the voters or my state party would appreciate it. If I stood outside city hall and did unspeakable things to a domesticated farm animal, I could probably get the Journal-Sentinel and Channel 6 t o show up to cover it. Would that get us any closer to having a Libertarian in Congress? I don’t think so.

There are few assertions more wrong and more repeated in politics than “all publicity is good publicity.” This isn’t selling widgets, where 90% of people can hate you and 3% buy your product and you walk away rich. It’s an election, where every vote counts and people will vote against you.

Though it’s funny you should mention the DEA in particular, because that’s actually been a fairly major focus of the campaign, in light of the DEA (and ATF) scandals that have happened in Wisconsin recently. We’ve had several statements, and I’ve done at least a couple of radio interviews, on that specific topic. More attention for it than Invictus? I don’t know, but I do know it was done without dancing naked on LSD, taking my better-half to a strip club, practicing sorcery, praising eugenics, or causing my state party to implode in scandal.

  10. Andy November 17, 2015

Thane, do you agree with Invictus, that we should practice sorcery, and dance naked in the woods, which he said as a part of his campaign?

  11. Thane Eichenauer November 17, 2015

    Wang Tang-Fu,

I consider myself a long time weathered and tested Libertarian. I registered to vote as a Libertarian at 18 years of age when all I knew was that I didn’t find the Republican label appealing, I didn’t find the Democrat label appealing and decided I would try out Libertarian. I learned more and continued to find the group and the ideas appealing.
I have run for city council once years ago in Lakewood, Colorado. I have run for US Congress as a Libertarian (AZ CD 1) in 2008. I ran for Arizona State Treasurer in 2010. I ran for Justice of the Peace in 2012, I ran for Constable in 2014 (again all these three times as a Libertarian Party candidate). As worst I have not been as vigorous a candidate as I would have hoped. I have received 19% of the vote for Constable in a two way race.

None of that automatically means that I couldn’t become warped by some statist trait or seduced by the lust for power or simply suckered by any of several types of official or unofficial double agents.

I find the vast majority of Augustus Sol Invictus to be an exhortation to We the People that we look around us, to look into our response to the damned awful situation people who have felt the destructive force of government drug prohibition and to be inspired to do something effective in response.

I follow Andy Craig’s campaign for US House from Wisconsin. His graphics are snappy, his memes are curiously informative. If I lived in his district I would support his campaign. I don’t think he is going to educate more people about the awful black power of the DEA as Augustus Invictus is doing.

I support what I hear Augustus Invictus saying in his fireside chats. I realize that other people seem to hear the very same words as I do and yet seem to hear something different than what I hear.

It is possible. I find Augustus Sol Invictus to be an inspiring advocate for an end of both the war on terror and the war on drugs. I am a Libertarian.

  12. Pete Blome November 17, 2015

When discussing Augustus Invictus’ good points I can’t help but think “Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?”

  13. Wang Tang-Fu November 16, 2015

    Is it?

  14. Thane Eichenauer November 16, 2015

Andy I find your claim rather casually cast against Joey Skinner. It is possible for a good person and Libertarian to find Augustus Sol Invictus to be an inspiring advocate for an end of both the war on terror and the war on drugs.

  15. Andy November 16, 2015

    “Joey Skinner

    November 16, 2015 at 10:45 pm

The candidacy of Augustus Sol Invictus has generated a unprecedented wave of publicity- more than all of the current “Libertarian” candidates combined! Obviously, there is much jealousy as a result. Compare Augustus Sol Invictus to the current faceless and drab political types in the Florida Republican Party? There’s just no comparison. this Augustus guy has fused Libertarian politics with Paganism and much, more. Ingenious! Take note, we’ll soon be entering the age of Post-Obama. Has anyone here noticed? With Rand Paul’s poll numbers tanking and Trump’s populism rising, there are numerous lessons to be learned.”

So sayeth a government troll posting under a fake name.

Invictus was most definitely faking a southern accent.

Also, what about the crazy shit like saying that he wants people to practice sorcery, and to dance naked in the woods?

  18. redphillips November 16, 2015

I would not call the accent that Invictus was affecting a Southern accent, although I don’t know exactly how I would characterize it. In the interview, he indicates that he moved to Florida as a small child and basically considers himself a Southerner, although most Southerners I know don’t have much use for paganism.

  19. Pete Blome November 16, 2015

You can’t moderate wanting a civil war and advocating eugenics. On another level, you have to be a total twit to affect a southern accent when doing YouTube videos when you don’t have one. Once you do stuff like this not only are you not a libertarian, but you are a flake. To say “I didn’t mean it” (as AI is doing) may be sincere, and the only political way out, but you still did it. To later deny it simply reeks. Why does the LPF have to suffer plagues like Invictus, and have leaders, like Vicki Kirkland, who support him? These two people cannot see the obvious injustice of Florida law, and in fact support that oppressive law (FS 96.096), that allows Invictus to run as a Libertarian candidate in Florida AND FORCES THE LPF TO ACCEPT HIM, as if there were no First Amendment. At the same time, half of the LPF EC cannot muster the good common sense to give a proven Libertarian leader, Adrian Wyllie, a vote of confidence to denounce this disaster of a candidate, because they are afraid of recognizing that AI actually isn’t a Libertarian. It’s enough to make you cry. [disclosure: I have yet to listen to the broadcast, but I’ll control my nausea later]

  20. RedPhillips Post author | November 16, 2015

So far I have listened to most of the interview. I haven’t quite finished it yet. It seems to me that AI is moderating his tone to some extent.
