In as clear terms as possible, the Socialist Party USA condemns the massacre of at least eighty innocent Syrians in Khan Sheikhoun using chemical weapons. This inhumane act is completely unacceptable and cannot be defended. Regardless of who ordered this massacre, and despite any pandering from some on the US Left, history will remember these days and write that Bashar al-Assad butchered his own people and Vladimir Putin helped him do it.
At the same time and with equal clarity, we condemn the use of military force by the United States in Syria. It is unclear at this time whether this act was an one-off show of force or a precursor to something larger and more deadly, but as we have learned through countless examples, peace is not born from an exploding U.S. missile. We remain steadfast in the belief that United States involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan was unequivocally wrong. Without question, involvement in Syria will be wrong as well and will lead to more blood spilled and lives lost.
When Barack Obama was moving towards military engagement in Syria in 2013, people in the United States answered that war cry by organizing and demanding No War in Syria. Donald Trump is moving faster and, as a result, we must be that much more determined to keep the United States out of Syria.

Really? That’s kinda nit-picking. That is rather normal language when speaking about a head of state.

I wouldn’t trust any report on who used the gas. The Socialists seem to imply or admit this possibility, but also seem to believe it was Assad. But why is chemical gas somehow more barbaric than burying children alive, murdering Christians, taking girls for sex slaves, chopping off heads and hands, throwing gays off roofs, crucifying people upside down, and on and on. I share SocraticGadfly’s suspicion on who may be responsible, but one can trust neither the US government or the Russian government, so we’ll probably never know. I say get all the women, children, old folks, and men who don’t want to be involved and just want to make a living, out of the country and house them in a safe, vacant zone in the ME of which there are many, and then let the Islamofascists and the Assad Fascists kill each other off. If I recall correctly, Grace Slick or some other female singer in the 60s said something like let all the warmongers from both sides assemble on a football field and kill each other off.

To me, it’s not an issue of “Socialist ownership of the state.” It’s that the SPUSA is quite likely wrong on who did it.

Have to give props to the Socialists for not trying to make it seem as though Assad’s someone innoncent in all this. He may be the least of all evils, I don’t really know, but the lesser of two evils is still evil, to quote a phrase that’s seen some use.
Of course, that’s no reason for us to get involve,d but it’s nice you can call out folks doing bad things and still be against your country doing bad things as well.

Socialists are so dismal in their thinking, and their brains are so degenerated from thinking in ideology, that they now can’t even recognize their own Nationalism, which used to be the anathema of the old socialists.
