Nearly half of US adult smartphone owners fall victim to cyberthieves each year – but the notorious founder of the world’s largest security technology firm believes he has a solution.
John McAfee has unveiled plans to develop what he calls ‘the world’s first truly private smartphone’, which is said to be ‘hack-proof’.
Boasting a $1,100 price tag, the ‘John McAfee Privacy Phone’ will be equipped with switches that enable users to manually disconnect certain components such as the antennas for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and geolocation.
McAfee plans to release the phone later this year through MGT, reported Anthony Cuthbertson with Newsweek, who conducted an exclusive interview with the computer expert and businessman.

How can this hand set be secure? It still needs to use corporate network?
And isn’t this article mostly a commercial advertisement?
“Fair use…. news is educational. It’s effectively impossible for a written news article to be copywritten.”
Incorrect. Please do not make such claims about the law if you have no clue what you are discussing. It could encourage the infringement of legal rights.
Fair use is usually 3-5 paragraph excerpt with link to source. We got hit with a copyright troll threat under the previous owner, basically what happened is that the Las Vegas Review-Journal hired a company that threatened to sue unless we paid them off. The owners of the site at the time settled with them for something like $4-5k, which a substantial amount for a site such as IPR, and removed a whole bunch of articles as well as one of our writers at the time. Ever since then we have tried to be more careful.
Fair use…. news is educational. It’s effectively impossible for a written news article to be copywritten. TV and Radio have issues because they’re in an alternative recorded medium, so the audio amd video recordings themselves are copywritten, not the content though.
Needs to be cut down to an excerpt (with link, but you already have that). We don’t post full articles from mainstream media sources due to the chance they could sue Warren.
