At Independent Political Report, we’re committed to promoting awareness of third party and independent news and providing a space for focused discussions. As part of this mission, our editorial team hosts a monthly open thread. This article thread is a place for readers to share news, opinions, and stories about third parties, independent candidates, and ballot access news that may not be covered elsewhere.

Our editorial team members reserve the right to remove content they deem as spam or unrelated to the ongoing conversation. You can always find a link to our policies in the footer of Independent Political Report. An updated, more focused policy is currently underway to better address reader questions and concerns.

California update: American Independent Party candidate Tami Nobriga will face off against Republican Heath Flora for California’s State Assembly District 9 later this year. Neither she nor Flora were contested.
Race worth noting from Super Tuesday: California’s 37th Congressional District Primary is currently between incumbent Democratic Rep. Sydney Kamlager and independent candidate Juan Rey. I’m told Rey may also be a member of the Working Families Party, but have not confirmed. At this time, the second Democrat is narrowly in third with a Peace and Freedom candidate just as narrowly behind them.
According to the NYT, results are still less than half in as of today.
