South Dakota Libertarians to Meet in Sioux Falls for Annual Convention

The Libertarian Party of South Dakota will meet in Sioux Falls next month for its annual state convention. The event is scheduled for May 10 at the Pizza Ranch.

According to details published earlier this month, the party has reserved a private room for the convention, with official business set to begin at 1:00 p.m. local time. Members will consider nominations for a range of leadership roles for the next two years, including Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary, as well as a new Communications Director and Regional Coordinators for the West River, East River, and Sioux River areas.

Further information is available on the party’s website, including a breakdown of which specific legislative districts fall under each regional coordinator’s responsibilities.

While a full agenda has not been released beyond officer elections, the party announced that it will host former Libertarian National Committee member Mark Tuniewicz as a special guest speaker. Tuniewicz served as the Region 6 Representative from 2023 to 2024 after being elevated from an alternate seat. He also previously served as the treasurer of the National Committee from 1998 to 2002.

Earlier this month, the party also held a public pre-convention meet-and-greet at the Jones Building in downtown Sioux Falls to discuss its direction ahead of the May gathering.

Why would you choose one of the least libertarian board members in recent memory as your speaker?
