Green Party National Committee Elects Cassiday Moriarity to Finance Committee

The Green Party National Committee has named Indiana Green Cassiday Moriarity to its national Finance Committee, following a nomination put forward by the party’s Young Eco-Socialists Caucus.

Moriarity was elected this month after a 61–4 vote of the National Committee, with four members abstaining. Opposition votes were scattered, while abstentions came from the sole present voting members of the Latinx Caucus, the Arizona and Colorado state parties, and one of two representatives from the Women’s Caucus. Members from 34 state parties and caucuses participated in the two-week nomination process.

A graduate of Indiana University Bloomington, Moriarity has been active in Green Party organizing at the local, state, and national levels. She previously served as vice chair and communications director of the Indiana Green Party and as chair of the Circle City Greens, which represents the Indianapolis area. At the national level, she is co-chair of Green Pages, the party’s official publication, and previously co-chaired the Young Eco-Socialists and chaired its finance committee.

“These experiences have deepened my understanding of financial stewardship, regulatory requirements, and the importance of transparency in our movement,” Moriarity wrote in her nomination statement. “I am also a strong supporter of the Donor Bill of Rights, and I am committed to ensuring that all donors are treated with respect, provided accurate financial information, and given confidence that their contributions are used ethically and in alignment with Green values.”

The Finance Committee serves as the Green Party’s primary body for monitoring fiscal activities and advising the Steering Committee. Its responsibilities include preparing the annual budget, overseeing revisions, coordinating with staff on fiscal matters, and ensuring compliance with financial policy. Membership requires nomination by a state party or caucus and approval by the National Committee, with terms lasting three years.
