A North American Bison is good except that they were nearly extinct which may not bode well for a minor party symbol. The LP discussed a porcupine at one time because it is a fairly docile creature that keeps to itself but can inflict great pain on foes if attacked or provoked. Whatever they do, they need to think simple, not complex. If they want to stick with the eagle, which is fine IMO, they need to do a block figure. Think of the Republican elephant and the Democrat donkey. Both are simple and instantly recognizable.
