Libertarians lost a passionate advocate today when Hardy Macia passed away. I didn’t always agree with Hardy but I always liked him and appreciated his passion.
Here’s a very recent article about Hardy’s latest battle, in the Concord Monitor.
Hardy made at least a dent on IPR, as can be seen in the mentions in IPR articles.
And his video message on medical marijuana, below.

Thank you Warren for running this post.
All of us are affected when one of the true workers for liberty passes away. The fact that Hardy died so young and was so ill for the last year just makes it that much more poignant.
Hardy was a great guy and activist. I enjoyed serving with him on the LNC as well. He was a board member at the Advocates for Self-Government.

He’ll be remembered and missed.
I didn’t know Hardy Macia personally, but only recall hearing positive things about him. It is tragic that we have lost him at such a relatively young age.
Please, freedom lovers, take care of your health! Cancer is often fueled by lifestyle choices such as eating meat and not getting enough exercise. The struggle for a free society needs you alive and healthy!
Served with Hardy on the LNC. He was a good guy that always respected your viewpoint.
His dedication and success as a free market entrepreneur should also be recognized as much as his liberty activism.
Fight everyday.
Sad news.
I knew him from national conventions, some New England events, avarious internet venues, not to mention his independent software business. (I recommend his personal accounting app, Pocket Money, available on iPhone, iPad, and desktop computers).
A talented man on several fronts.
The fact the man was still acting as an activist from his hospital bed shows his dedication.
My condolences to his wife, family, and friends.
I got to know Hardy fairly well during Governor Gary Johnson’s 2012 LP presidential run, and it’s devastating to bear his loss. He directed New Hampshire for the campaign and raised as much money for events there as others did in much larger states. He triaged the campus rally that could otherwise have fallen through for lack of strong organizers on site. But he actually was a national leader of the campaign, running the online townhalls and implementing the larger online fundraising projects. He knew what to do for so many aspects of the campaign and so was considered a go-to guy. He effectively handled most big questions for all things in New England. I met his wife Heidi and him at the Vegas Convention, and Hardy and I spoke every week for more than a year during the campaign. This is a very tough loss, and I hope his family, company and loved ones can carry on in his wonderful, can-do spirit. Miss you Hardy.
I didn’t have the privilege of knowing Hardy well (a few minor bits of correspondence to my recollection), but I’ll certainly miss him.
My condolences to Hardy’s family. He was an admirable and inspiring person.
Very sorry to hear about Hardy. My condolences to friends and family.
This loss is ours….
This was a great misfortune. Sympathies, George
The liberty movement lost one of its torches today. Rest in peace Hardy.
It’s a great loss for the Libertarian Party and the libertarian movement. My condolences to Heidi and the rest of his family.
