Recount: Arkansas Greens did not win Chicot County Assessor race

Posted at ballot Access News

On November 14, Chicot County, Arkansas recounted the votes for Assessor, a partisan race. The Green Party candidate lost by 30 votes. Apparently the recount showed the Democrat with 2,242 votes and the Green with 2,212 votes, or very similar numbers.

In Arkansas they only need 3%, but they can only get it in the Governor’s or potus races.

That’s messed up; 20% in aStaewide race gets you ballot access for 1 more year in Alabama. (Another state with horrible access laws)

Arkansas Greens did the best of any state. One big reason why is that the Demopublicrats have such a cartel in Arkansas that they hardly ever even run against each other.

And just to illustrate how crazy ballot access laws can be, even though they got a state legislator elected, over 20% for US Senate, over 20% in two US House races and double digits in another (all time GP US records for both Senate and House), unless they win a lawsuit, I’ll have to go back yet again and help get them on the ballot with signatures.

Richard Winger says they have a good chance with the lawsuit, though.

That’s a shame. Still, it’s a wonder a Green did so well in such a great year for Democrats.
