Tom Knapp: ‘I Have to Admit, Donald Trump is Making Me Re-Think the Whole “Deportation” Issue’

Thomas L. Knapp writes at Kn@ppster:

I have to admit, Donald Trump is making me re-think the whole “deportation” issue.

In fact, I’m leaning toward the idea that all Trump supporters should be deported to North Korea where things will be more to their liking.

But I’m also kind of Romneyish on it. I’m cool with “self-deportation.”

Mr. Knapp is currently running as a write-in candidate for US House FL-3. Since he is a write-in candidate, there is no official party label, but his campaign materials identify him as a Libertarian. That’s also the party he ran for office with several times when he lived in Missouri. Knapp started the now defunct Boston Tea Party (not to be confused with the Greater Boston TEA Party, which came along later) and was its VP nominee in 2008. Subsequently he led an anti-voting campaign before rejoining the Libertarian Party. He is also one of the writer/editors and frequent commenters at IPR, among many other places he writes at.

Mr. Trump is currently the candidate leading in the polls for the Republican nomination for President, but continues to float the possibility that he may switch to run as an independent for the same office if he concludes that Republican Party leaders don’t treat his campaign fairly. Trump briefly sought the Reform Party Presidential nomination in 2000 and has been registered to vote as a Democrat, Republican and Independent. His top campaign issue is rounding up and deporting an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants and building a massive wall on the US-Mexico border, which he believes will make America great again. In the most recent Republican Presidential debate, Mr. Trump looked back with fondness to the Eisenhower administration’s Operation Wetback, although he did not call it by name.

Mr. Kim became North Korea’s Supreme Leader on December 29, 2011. He is the son and grandson of the last two supreme leaders of North Korea. The Kim Dynasty, so far consisting of Kim Il-sung, Kim Jong-Il and Kim Jong-Un, has controlled North Korea for the last 70 years through a Top One electoral system. North Korea has a heavily armed southern border and a very strict and heavily enforced policy regarding unauthorized border crossing. Other well-known examples of border fortification include the Berlin Wall, the Great Wall of China and the French Maginot Line.

Perot doesn’t have the same tinge of dogwhistle racism/bigotry as Wallace, Buchanan and Trump. However, he has many of the other aspects of autarchy – cult of personality, militarism, dictatorial personality, emphasis on protectionism, interlocking big business-big government partnership, and contempt for civil liberties (he called for ratcheting up the drug war with house to house searches for guns and drugs in high crime neighborhoods and dismissed criticism about the civil rights and civil liberties implications by saying “we’ll get a team of lawyers on it.”)

Perot never struck me as a fascist. Buchanan more-so.

  3. paulie December 4, 2015

Tucker is much more correct than Adams.

  4. Thane Eichenauer December 4, 2015

Scott Adams posted an article earlier today on ..wait for it.. “What the Heck is Fascism?” and how the term fascism applies to ..wait for it.. Donald Trump. He uses Umberto Eco’s definition of fascism.

    http://blog.dilbert.com/post/134531690571/what-the-heck-is-fascism

He closes his article with “Here I pause to tell new readers of this blog that I don’t endorse Trump or anyone else for president. I am not smart enough to know who would do the best job.”

  5. paulie December 4, 2015

I agree strongly with everything he says, other than that Perot and especially Buchanan weren’t from the same mold. Trump is clearly more dangerous, though.

    “The Eff Word Goes Mainstream”
“At long last, we are seeing mainstream recognition of the incredibly obvious: Donald Trump is a fascist.”
    https://tucker.liberty.me/the-eff-word-goes-mainstream/

I don’t necessarily agree with every point that Jeffrey Tucker points but he certainly makes several good points I do agree with along the way.

I’ll approve their comment if I see it.

I met tons of people, even knew them in “another life”. I can’t talk about details and it doesn’t matter. Trump is thoroughly dishonest and very contemptuous of nobodies like I have become so what would we have to talk about? If I want to listen to people brag and bullshit all night I already know people like that.

  9. Thane Eichenauer December 3, 2015

Nothing Paulie? Nothing? I very much doubt that if you joined Donald Trump for dinner one on one that you would have nothing to talk to him about. I might have to work hard to be prepared for such a dinner but I imagine between consulting with you and Thomas Knapp I would at least have two questions to ask.

I just finished reading the first two pages of Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again by Donald Trump (Kindle edition).

P.S. Thank you for the nugget on having met Donald Trump.

LOL. I’ve met Trump before. No interest in meeting him again. I didn’t like him way back then and I like him even less as a political candidate. I have nothing to talk to him about and he would have no reason to waste time on a loser such as I have become (at least from his perspective; personally I don’t mind my changed circumstances). As for the ride, I do realize he may be a bit reluctant. I’ve read Trump’s self promoting books before. They are entertaining, but not very truthful, and of course very self-serving.

    Paulie,
Thank you for your very interesting comment. I am not sure that Donald Trump would be inclined to take such a ride willingly. I hope you get to meet him soon for a one on one chat.

I hope and plan to read a snippet of Scott Adams book via Kindle titled “How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big: Kind of the Story of My Life” soon.

Blasting Trump in a one way ride to Mars without a spacesuit sounds like a much better plan. Also, make Trump pay for it.

  13. Thane Eichenauer November 30, 2015

I didn’t think it was possible but Scott Adams wrote an article that combines self-deportation and immigrant documentation wrapped up in a corn tortilla of private real estate development that I think Thomas Knapp might not object to. It sounds workable and plausible to me.

If Warren Meyer of Coyote Blog, Park Privatization dot com and Climate dash Skeptic dot com commented on it that would extra frosting on the Scott Adams article cupcake (even if he was critical).

Excellent article by Jeff Tucker, exactly on point.

  15. paulie November 26, 2015

That may actually be the secret plan. I don’t know that for sure, but some people have speculated it may be, and I would not rule it out. Regardless of whether Trump really believes the crap he spews, his supporters sure do.

  16. Jed Ziggler November 25, 2015

“Trump says he is a tee-totaler.”

Ick that means he and I have something in common.

  17. Thane Eichenauer November 25, 2015

Make that “Austin Petersen vs Donald Trump would have a certain plausibility as Petersen has media connections. Certainly a comparison for contrast or lack of contrast would make for interesting watching.”

  18. paulie November 25, 2015

Again, Trump doesn’t even think Rand Paul is popular enough to deserve to be on the stage with him, so Petersen would not seem to have much of a chance. And two megalomaniacs (Trump and Kim) getting together for a summit doesn’t sound that great to me, honestly.

  20. paulie November 25, 2015

Trump says he is a tee-totaler. So there’s at least one difference with Kim.

  21. Thane Eichenauer November 25, 2015

    Wang Tang-Fu,
I would relish the chance to see Donald Trump on stage (or even sharing a dinner) with Kim Jong-Un. Even better would be a beer summit. US policy relative (under a Trump presidency) with North Korea certainly could be clarified and improved (in my opinion).

  22. Wang Tang-Fu November 25, 2015

Trump has said that Rand Paul is an ugly, unpopular loser who should not even be allowed in the debates as it is, so it’s rather unlikely that he would want to debate him one on one, much less any of the other gentlemen you mentioned. Perhaps Trump would be up for debating Kim Jong-Un, although they may have a hard time coming up with anything to disagree about.

  23. Thane Eichenauer November 25, 2015

A Donald Trump vs Rand Paul debate would offer some great contrast (I think). Trump vs Darryl W. Perry would be even better (or Trump vs Steve Kerbel/Marc Allan Feldman/Gary Johnson).

  24. paulie November 25, 2015

    Read Knapp’s original post.

  25. jim November 25, 2015

What is the purpose of even mentioning Kim Jong Un?

  26. paulie November 25, 2015

That’s pretty ironic coming from the Kasich campaign given what they did to the LP in Ohio (among other things) but otherwise completely on point.

  27. paulie November 25, 2015

    http://irregulartimes.com/2015/11/25/john-kasichs-warning-about-growing-republican-fascism/

The John Kasich for President campaign has released an advertisement featuring former prisoner of war Tom Moe, giving the following warning about Donald Trump:

“I would like anyone who is listening to consider some thoughts that I paraphrase from the words of German pastor Martin Niemöller. You might not care if Donald Trump says Muslims must register with the government, because you’re not one, and you might not care if Donald Trump says he’s going to round up all the Hispanic immigrants, because you’re not one, and you might not care if Donald Trump says it’s OK to rough up black protesters, because you’re not one, and you might not care that Donald Trump wants to suppress journalists, because you’re not one, but think about this: If he keeps going and he actually becomes President, he might just get around to you, and you better hope that’s there someone left to help you.”

  28. paulie November 25, 2015

They could also be given the option of watching this, in the A Clockwork Orange-style:

Only after having their food and drinks spiked with large doses of psychedelics.

Could we shrink the pic(s)? It’s so big it’s running into the sidebar on my screen.

Should be fixed now. I was not having that problem when I approved it earlier. Maybe it depends on the browser. I looked at it in three different browsers now and not seeing any bleed at this pic size. Let me know if you still see a problem though.
