Ballot Access News: Mayor Bloomberg is now assured of receiving the nomination of the Independence Party of New York City

@ BAN:

This New York Times story says that Mayor Bloomberg is now assured of receiving the nomination of the Independence Party of New York city. Those leaders, Fred Newman, Jackie Salit, and Lenora Fulani, had originally been opposed to re-nominating Bloomberg in this year’s mayoral primary, because those leaders had been opposed to overturning city term limits. Thanks to Bill Van Allen for the link.

@Jayne: Why would NYC Greens (and I am one) support Bloomberg? To what possible end? It would serve as the death knell of the Greens here, as they would lose all standing as an independent political party. We’d be no better than parties like the Working Families Party, which, for the most part, support Dems that do not speak to the high political standards that WFP preaches. I’ve never heard anything more ridiculous…..

The real question for Reverend Billy…can the Green Party gather the necessary signatures.

Perhaps the Green Party, as Indy Greens did in Virginia in 2008, support Bloomberg.

Can’t he just get a lifetime appointment and do away with this pesky election stuff?
