Libertarian Party Begins Taking Early Reservations for 2026 National Convention

The Libertarian Party has opened early registration for its 2026 National Convention, launching a website this week for volunteers, attendees, and exhibitors to begin booking hotel rooms and reserving tabling space.

In an announcement made Tuesday, September 2, the party stated that reservations for booths, tables, and hotel accommodations are now available on a first-come, first-served basis. The party will convene from May 21–25 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It added that additional details, including guest speakers and special programming, will be released in the coming weeks.

“This isn’t just another event—it’s the single most important gathering where libertarian activists, officials, and visionaries unite to elect our National Committee, vote on platform reforms, and chart the future direction of the party,” the convention website reads. “Even in a non-presidential cycle, our convention matters—to shape bylaws, energize the movement, and flex our political muscle heading into 2028.”

The party also confirmed that the convention will specifically feature dedicated space for discussions on the “undeniable impact and potential” of cryptocurrency and alternative currencies.

The party first announced the convention theme, “Freedom Calls,” in May, following a member-driven fundraiser and vote. As part of the decision-making process, the Libertarian National Committee invited members to submit “unmistakably Libertarian” theme suggestions, which were then ranked by total contributions. Out of 22 total entries, “Freedom Calls” was named the final choice following a two-round process, though no final donation total was ever publicly shared.

Prior to that, in March, the LNC formally began its delegate allocation process for the convention, announcing a two-step process. According to LNC bylaws, delegation totals are determined by a combination of presidential vote totals and state membership-based calculations. Presidential vote totals were calculated in May, with state membership calculations due by October 31.

Editorial note: Independent Political Report previously reported the convention dates as May 21–24 based on earlier materials shared by the party. The updated September 2 announcement confirms the event will run through May 25.
