The independent campaign of Tim Grady has received the endorsement of Tyler Maple, a village council member in West Lafayette. Maple is the second elected official to back the campaign in Ohio’s upcoming gubernatorial election.
The campaign shared with Independent Political Report that it received Maple’s endorsement on Monday. Maple was first elected to an at-large seat on the West Lafayette Village Council in 2025 in a nonpartisan race. He also previously ran as a write-in candidate for Ohio’s 72nd House District in the race to replace former Speaker Larry Householder.
In an accompanying statement, Maple said he was backing Grady because of his independence and that he believed the campaign would introduce “much needed change that will better the lives of all Ohioans regardless of their political party.”
The Grady campaign thanked Maple for his support and said the endorsement was a sign of momentum among voters seeking “forward-looking” leadership.
“I’m honored to have Tyler’s endorsement,” the statement read. “We have a new generation of leadership rising in Ohio, and to me, this is the start of a movement across the state for real progress. I look forward to working with Tyler to build a future for all of Ohio.”
This is the second elected official to endorse Grady this month. Last week, the campaign announced the support of Sean Beck, a member of the Ada Village Council who was most recently reelected as an independent in a partisan race. It has also received the formal support of the United States Pirate Party and the United States Transhumanist Party.
