The recently formed Statements for Liberty PAC will be helping Oregon’s Libertarian candidates get their message in the 2016 General Election Voters’ Pamphlet.
Oregon’s elections are conducted by mail, and the state mails the Voters’ Pamphlet to all registered voters in advance of their ballots. To qualify to place a 325-word candidate statement in the pamphlet, candidates can either pay a fee, or collect a specified number of signatures.
Those requirements vary with the office and for some candidates have presented a serious obstacle. In the 2014 General Election, only six of the 33 Libertarian candidates published a candidate statement.
The format of the Voters’ Pamphlet puts all candidates for each race together, offering a literal side-by-side comparison of the candidates’ messages. Placing a statement in the pamphlet is an important way for a candidate to gain visibility and to reach voters at the time they are deciding how to cast their ballot.
“We can help our gubernatorial candidate place a statement that will reach 2.3 million Oregon voters for just $3,000, costing about a tenth of a cent each,” said Kyle Markley, a candidate for state legislature, and treasurer of Statements for Liberty. “With $15,000, we can place twenty statements for Libertarian state legislative candidates,” he added.
“Having statements in the Voters’ Pamphlet will help candidates build the Libertarian brand, showcasing the principles and policies of the party,” said Lars Hedbor, chair of the Libertarian Party of Oregon. “Quality Libertarian candidate statements can introduce people to libertarian ideas and may inspire them to learn more about libertarianism,” he added.
Statements for Liberty is pursuing both fundraising and volunteer assistance. The committee can be reached through their website at http://statementsforliberty.org. Donations qualify for the Oregon political contributions tax credit. Oregon does not limit the size of donations to political committees.

Wes, I went looking to make an online donation but the PAC hasn’t the capability to accept an online donation. Let me know when you fix this.
It looks like there have been several articles posted afterwards, so it isn’t showing.
Due to the timeliness of the article, I don’t think anyone will care if I move it up.
Is this article no longer showing up on the main feed ?
If you would like to help the Statements for Liberty PAC, time is of the essence! Oregon’s deadline for petitioning to complete is in mid-August, and the deadline for all filing fees to be paid is at the end of August. We have a very short period of time to accomplish our mission.
Excellent, and good luck in your fundraising!
