The first Chuck Baldwin moneybomb collected around $14,500 today. There is a small time-lag in the donation widget on Chuck Baldwin’s site, but I’m being told the total overall is $34,600–and the website only launched Saturday.
P.S. – Compared with Bob Barr’s first moneybomb, this is a smashing success.

Well Swartz my boy, thx to G.E. seem my dime is a “GOLD” one, (wisenheimer).
And to think I’ve actually played QB, you know with helmets and pads and such…

“From my perspective, as a paid employee of the campaign, I would say there was not only incompetence but malfeasance on the part of the national staff.”
Thank you G.E. for sharing TRUTH with the masses…

While I’ve been rather lukewarm towards Barr in the past, I don’t doubt that his fundraising network — coupled with the Libertarian Party fundraising network — should easily eclipse the Constitution Party’s fundraising ability.
“However, for third parties, fundraising is arguably less important than how far a campaign can stretch a dollar. A Libertarian candidacy that spends $1 million mostly on salaries and gets little media or grassroots attention is not preferable to another third party effort that only has $200K, but spends it all on outreach and media rather than high-priced salaries.
One of the more distressing things I experienced on the LP convention floor was a desire by many Barr supporters to pretend we’re a major contender in the presidential election — coupled with a desire to spend like one. We are not a major contender, and I believe the “spoiler effect†won’t have much impact beyond Georgia. I would prefer to have a candidate who gets on TV a lot to talk about liberty and who focuses his campaign cash on lots of outreach and more permanently lasting efforts than campaign salaries.”
This is some of your best postings I’ve read B.M.
If Barr can raise the necessary funds from the Republicans then that is a good strategy for him. That monetary support is yet to be seen. Without major bucks to pay Gordon and Co. plus a bigtime campaign effort, they will be back to where most LP campaigns toll financially. This is where a Ruwart or even a Phillies campaign would have been better for the LP. A major GOAL of any LP, CP, GP or AnyP should be outreach FIRST ! If you get the youth with you they will in most cases be with you for the rest of their lives.
The LP should use the POTUS campaign to start (and improve existing) viable LP campus groups on every Institute of higher learning in the ten largest states. (CA, TX, NY, FL, IL, PA, OH,NJ,NC, & GA) That would equal a sucessful campaign for 2008. Then work for the next ten largest states until they have thousands of youth LP organizations working for LIBERTY where the people are located ! I’m not sure Barr has outreach in his plans. Now “POW” Root probably could be convienced to do an outreach VP campaign. “POW!”
Until you get a significate percent of the youth over time, you will never be able to defeat the Ds & Rs. The Ron Paul campaign was a hit with the youth. It would be a great thing if the LP and CP could capitalize on those efforts before they become discouraged and/or disillusioned. Peer pressure to support B.O. in the general will be heavy upon most 17-24 y.o. They need to know they have alternatives to “empty suit socialism”.
(sic?)
From my perspective, as a paid employee of the campaign, I would say there was not only incompetence but malfeasance on the part of the national staff.
It’s hard to judge the compotency of the Paul campaign staff accurately. It’s easy to just say that they sucked because they did certain things wrong (like running terrible TV ads), but it’s harder to put oneself in their shoes and make an accurate description of how else it might have been done.
Armchair quarterbacks are a dime a dozen.
Baldwin’s total goal was $100,000. Others felt if $35,000 total was in the bank at midnite it would have been a success. The “others” came close to their target of success. If Baldwin runs a tight ship he will be able to go further on less as mentioned above.
With Barr’s Republican connections he should raise mucho deneros, however high paid help can eat up much more than they are worth. Look at the Paul campaign for a prime example of this fact. Snyder and Moore were OVERPAID if they got $1 a week ! IMO and many others opinion ALSO. (last I heard they are still on the payroll @ $13-1500 or more a week plus expenses). And some of you wonder why people whorer up to a campaign to get on the payroll !
Brian,
I have no firsthand experience on it, but I do remember reading horror stories on Hammer of Truth about Michael Badnarik’s “major contender” spending in his 2006 congressional race and the (tepid) electoral results that followed.
I second Matt’s comment about Baldwin having the nomination. $34K isn’t that impressive when the whole party is behind you.

To be fair, Baldwin already has the nomination, and Barr didn’t when he did his moneybomb, so this is an apples/oranges comparison.
Also, it’s worth pointing out that the CP seems to be better at internal thrift than the LP is, so it’s likely that Baldwin’s dollars will go further in terms of vote-getting potential.
You to? I’m sure this man is stark raving mad.
Huh?
Not such a smashing success in comparison to Barr’s totals after the nomination…AND, you at least could post an accurate link to whatever article it is to which you refer, instead of Gordon’s song…however, I do like the song, however corny and stupid your video snaps are…and they are corny, stupid and uncalled for…you can do better, right?
Don’t insult if you cannot deliver on your own, and you deliverered NOTHING to back up your statements.
Sorry if this sounds ultra critical, but you deserve it…
