Keyes retains California ballot position

The verdict is in: Alan Keyes will remain on the California ballot as the presidential candidate of the American Independent Party. A lawsuit brought forward by Jim King, Chairman of the AIP faction that met in Los Angeles last month to nominate Chuck Baldwin for President and maintain the state party’s affiliation with the Constitution Party, has been thrown on out on the grounds that Alan Keyes and his vice-presidential candidate Wiley Drake should have been parties to the lawsuit, since as candidates they were the ones bearing the burden of being removed from the ballot in court:

Munger in at least two more debates

According to an update from his campaign, Dr. Michael Munger, the Libertarian candidate for Governor of North Carolina, has accepted an invitation to two upcoming televised debates:

UNC-TV will hold two gubernatorial debates, Sept 24 and Oct 8.

Alexander calls for $300 billion for automotive industry

Responding to an earlier request by GM, Chrysler, and Ford seeking $25 billion in loans from the federal government (a figure recently raised to $50 billion), Socialist Party USA Vice-Presidential nominee Stewart Alexander has upped the ante and called for an even larger sum, along with his own plan for a socialist reshaping of the industry:

Alexander has proposed a long term, comprehensive program that will require the investment of $300 billion over the next decade; Alexander’s plan would also call for a major restructure of the U.S.

Oregon’s Dave Brownlow criticizes Obama’s selection of Biden

Earlier this week, the Libertarian Party issued an email criticizing Barack Obama’s selection of Joe Biden as his running mate. Among the reasons given for Biden being a bad choice were his opposition to English as a national language, his support for equal treatment under the law for gun manufacturers (a view former LP presidential candidate Ron Paul shares), and his opposition to energy socialism in ANWR.…
