Green Party candidate Richard Carroll is running for state representative in District 39 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Carroll is the only candidate on the ballot because the Democratic candidate has been previously removed, though Carroll still faces two Democratic write-in candidates. Ballot Access News reports that Carroll, himself a 30 year union organizer and boilermaker, was endorsed by five unions and is expecting two more union endorsements.
Richard Carroll, Green Party nominee for the Arkansas state house in North Little Rock, has been endorsed by these unions: Sheet Metal Workers, Building Trades, UTU, Electrical Workers, and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. Two more endorsements are expected soon.
Carroll is one of 14 Green party candidates in Arkansas, and the one that is considered most likely to be elected.

Eric, I interviewed Richard for Green Party Watch Radio and asked him that question by pointing out that Audie Bock, the first Green elected to a state legislature, left the Green Party shortly thereafter and became a democrat. I asked him if he felt like a Green and he said that he did. He said that his Roman Catholic background put him at odds with some GP platform positions, but did not say what they might be. He did however say loud and clear that he has gotten a LOT of support from the Arkansas Greens, and that he believes in Solidarity and Unity. I believe that once elected he will remain an active Green and serve that state’s Green Party growth a lot as the only union member in the state legislature.
Has Carroll committed to serving in the legislature as a Green?
Some hope!
