Yeah. The reason to eliminate it stems from the understanding that some polling could end up hurting the LP.

Do you think we should abolish welfare?
Maybe a few anti-LP’ers use loads of proxies to vote skew and then hundreds, if not thousands, of blogs report on it, which, in turn, damages the credibility of the LP as an libertarian or libertarian-leaning party.

Online polls are unscientific and their results are not meaningful. They necessarily generate self-selection error. The results may be described as self-selection error, entirely.
@1 I would not use the term fair tax, either. It is a nationalist socialist sales tax, it is unfair to those who would be forced to administer it directly (the shop keepers) and it is not a replacement for the income tax, no matter what the dupes who push it claim.
@3 Brussels sprouts can be delicious if prepared properly. I would rather have a daily ration of sprouts in my diet than any new tax.
@3 Payroll withholding was a clever way of dealing with a cash flow problem in December and January owing to a new war in late 1941 and early 1942, with tax receipts due in April. It was originally promoted as a “victory tax” and in a world not gone made would have been repealed in 1946 or sooner.
There is something very wrong with Americans, that they succumb to this patriotic fervor and jingoism after elaborately concocted attacks (Pearl Harbor, 11-Sep-01, Gulf of Tonkin incident) and give over all their wealth and sovereignty to a ruling class which despises them. It is this feature of Americans which makes me unwilling to entertain ideas like the “national initiative for democracy.”

I would definitely fire Andrew Davis and blacklist him among libertarian groups. He’s not a libertarian, and he should stop pretending to be one.
Even I could do a better job with the Libertarian daily polls.
I will be starting a petition soon to give me control of the Daily Poll function of the Libertarian Party website. I hope many of you would be interested in signing it. I would come up with questions that would help people choose the libertarian answer, whether I agree with that answer or not.

I definitely prefer the FairTax to the income tax but there is no way that I will ever *like* taxes.
The way the question is written, respondents will vote against the Libertarian position 54% of the time, so far.
I really don’t think it would take that long to formulate questions that both mock the democrat/republican position AND leads people to choose the Libertarian option.

Milton Friedman did much good but coming up with payroll withholding in the 40s was not his finest moment.
