The Free and Equal Elections Foundation announced today that a press conference will be held at 11:00AM CST Tomorrow, Wednesday January 21, 2009, at the Capital Press Room in the Illinois state capital in Springfield.

The press conference will announce a major campaign to reform and combat Restrictive Ballot Access Laws that make it nearly impossible in some states for Independent and Third Party candidates to have their names on the ballot.

A day after announcing that renowned ballot access crusader Richard Winger of Ballot Access News has joined Free & Equal’s Board of Directors, the foundation is pleased to announce Christopher Thrasher as Free & Equal’s first Executive Director.

Christopher Thrasher is a third party activist and political consultant who was the Deputy National Campaign Coordinator for the 2008 Presidential campaign of Senator Mike Gravel. A registered Libertarian, Thrasher shares the foundation’s conviction that ALL candidates should have a reasonable chance to put their name on the ballot, regardless of political party affiliation.

“Tomorrow’s kickoff press conference promises to be a monumental event in the history of the American electoral process,” said Founder and Chairman of the Board Christina Tobin. “For far too long, the American public has been severely limited in their choices for elected office due to archaic ballot access laws. Free and Equal will take the lead in ensuring that all Americans have a REAL choice at the polls.”

The Free and Equal Elections Foundation is a non partisan, non profit 501c(4) organization dedicated to eliminating restrictive ballot access laws that target Independent and Third-Party Candidates.
