LP recommends tax relief for families and employers. Posted at LP.org. Reposted to IPR by Paulie.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – America’s third largest party tonight urged Senate Republicans and Democrats to scrap their joint plans for a $780 billion package of wealth transfers and expanded government spending.
“Poll after poll shows voters agree with the Libertarian Party. Employers and families need tax relief to create jobs and save,” said William Redpath, Libertarian National Committee chairman. “What they don’t need is politicians exploiting their fears to explode the size of government and burden our children with billions in new debt.”
Recent polls show only 37 percent of voters support such a plan, with opposition rising fastest among independent voters. A Wednesday report by the Congressional Budget Office shows such a plan would cause long-term damage to the economy. With interest on the borrowed funds, the total cost to future generations of taxpayers would be around $1.1 trillion dollars.
“With both Republicans and Democrats siding against voters to explode the national debt and expand the government, it has become clear the Libertarian Party is the only party with a fiscally responsible plan to revive our economy,” said Redpath.
Libertarians support replacing the wealth transfers and expanded spending with billions of dollars in tax relief for employers and families. Recent polling by the firm Rasmussen finds 54 percent of voters support the Libertarian approach of tax relief over the Republican/Democrat approach of drastically increased government spending.

The Libertarian Party is America’s third-largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. You can find more information on the Libertarian Party by visiting www.LP.org. The Libertarian Party proudly stands for smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom.

Yeah, it was local media.
But a few of our Alabama Libertarians have tried getting national media – Steve Gordon and Loretta Nall – and did just fine. I think most of the time the problem is that we don’t even try, and just expect them to come to us – sort of like money and votes.
Lucky for all of us our parents did not approaching dating that way when they were younger, or few of us would even be here.
If 1000 other libertarian would actively do this nationwide with the correct follow up work, there would be positive movement in a libertarian direction.
Yep. So why isn’t it happening?
Where did the money come from to advertise ? Don’t remain a mushroom all your life.

Was this local media ? I suppect so. (Remember 300 million need reaching) If 1000 other libertarian would actively do this nationwide with the correct follow up work, there would be positive movement in a libertarian direction.
Everyone needs a tax break.
Seebeck at post 4:
“But employers don’t need tax breaks. Consumers do, definitely. ”
Spoken like someone who is not an employer…
Interesting that you’re now advocating taxation of employers, which in some cases amounts to double taxation. I thought you were a “real” libertarian.
The LP, GP or CP etc., are blocked by the major media
What do they do to earn coverage?
I found it ridiculously easy to get coverage in a city of 100,000-150,000 population.
When they actually try to get coverage, the smaller get the coverage they have earned – and sometimes much more.
The LP, GP or CP etc., are blocked by the major media (except for the 5 minute piece or maybe a little longer on a 250,000 viewer cable show, while their candidates get 5 million minutes, on cable and the NETWORKS,
OTOH, the LP, CP & GP don’t bother to advertise on these same outlets, basically snubbing the same people we criticize for not giving us “free” attention.
Obama gets more free attention on FauxNews than any opposition because the Obama campaign spent million$ there. McCain gets more free attention on PMSNBC than any opposition because his campaign spent million$ there. Same goes for CNN, ABC, CBS and all the rest.
If you want “Fairly Balanced” news, you have to advertise there.
BTW, many in the media might have attempted to ridicule Ron Paul, but they failed miserably to discredit him.

Paranoia will destroy ya. LP press releases about 10 years ago were getting decent print coverage given the size of the organization sending them.
They need to create a distribution system where at least most Alternative Media would at least receive their releases.

Know any other good tools?
To who do they release this to? AP?
Great question. Does anyone know what the distribution system for LP press releases is?
To who do they release this to? AP? I have never seen a LP news release ever covered in my local AP affiliated newspaper(s). They need to create a distribution system where at least most Alternative Media would at least receive their releases. AP is owned and controlled by the Rothchilds and their lackeys. They will never allow the LP’s message to reach the masses.
The banksters (Rothschilds) bought Reuters at the end of the 19th century, which later bought AP early in the 20th century–what percentage of your news and “facts” come from Associated Press or Reuters? Also this media consolidation is not just in america, but worldwide.
Here is the work of a Rothschild proxy: J. P. Morgan. One begs the question, how did the banksters get control of the “free” press?
The answer is rather simple and began two years after the passage of the
Federal Reserve Act and the 16th Amendment.
“In March, 1915, the J.P. Morgan interests, the steel, shipbuilding, and powder interests, and their subsidiary organizations, got together 12 men high up in the newspaper world and employed them to select the most influential
newspapers in the United States and sufficient number of them to control generally the policy of the daily press of the United States. These 12 men worked the problem out by selecting 179 newspapers, and then began, by an
elimination process to retain only those necessary for the purpose of controlling the general policy of the daily press throughout the country. They found it was only necessary to purchase the control of 25 of the greatest
papers. The 25 papers were agreed upon; emissaries were sent to purchase
the policy, national and international, of these papers; an agreement was reached; the policy of the papers was bought, to be paid for by the month; an editor was furnished for each paper to properly supervise and edit information regarding the questions of preparedness, militarism, financial policies, and other things of national and international nature considered
vital to the interests of the purchasers… This policy also included the suppression of everything in opposition to the wishes of the interests served.” – Congressman Oscar Callaway, The Congressional Record, February
9, 1917, Vol. 54, pp. 2947-48.

“For more than a century ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents … to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure – one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.”
– David Rockefeller, “Memoirs” autobiography (2002, Random House publishers), page 405
“These international bankers and Rockefeller Standard Oil interests control the majority of newspapers and the columns of these papers to club into submission or drive out of public office officials who refuse to do the bidding of the powerful corrupt cliques which compose the invisible government.” – Theodore Roosevelt
I am concerned for the security of our great nation, not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within. ~ General Douglas MacArthur
“We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected the promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world-government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the National auto-determination practiced in past centuries.” – David Rockefeller

“There is no such thing, at this date of the world’s history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar weekly salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities, and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.” – John Swinton, former New York Times Chief of Staff

The gang of 3?
“Every Republican in the Senate, except two, also are voting against it.”
3,actually.
Certainly, we should all support spending cuts and tax cuts. And I see nothing wrong with calling them a stimulus, bailout, For The Children Act, Mom and Apple Pie Bill, Keep America Alive Law, or whatever gets people on board.
Of course, that’s not what the big box party mean by stimulus.
Yes, Eric and Michael, it’d be great if there were a REAL stimulus. This train’s moving too fast, but I look forward to the day when the LP could advocate one that is relevant, credible and L.
We’re not there yet.
The R’s are not opposed to a stimulus package, just this one because our cash doesn’t go to their pet causes. So Redpath is correct (for once).
But employers don’t need tax breaks. Consumers do, definitely.
And governments need spending cuts, 40% across the board, all levels, with the savings “paying for” the tax cuts for the individuals.
And I’m not necessarily opposed to the idea of “stimulus,” so long as it involves tax cuts, and no more government spending.
Eric, you may have something there. OTOH, I’d be surprised if the Rs were opposed to the IDEA of stimulus; it seems more that they want to do a deficit-spending stimulus in a different manner.
Bill, really, that’s quite a stretch. All House Republicans, all 178 of them, voting against Stimulsourous. Every Republican in the Senate, except two, also are voting against it.
Republican Chairman Michael Steele is fiercely opposed to it.
To say that Republicans and Democrats “both support the Stimulus,” is highly misleading.
Why not approach it from the perspective of Democrats suck cause they support it, Republicans are being wimps for not being forceful enough against the Dems.
That would add a lot more credibility to your release.
