2008 Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney has endorsed Pete Karas, also a Green, in his bid for mayor of Racine, Wisconsin. According to Green Party Watch, Karas worked for McKinney’s presidential campaign and helped organize multiple Wisconsin events for her. Racine is a city of about 80,000 and is the county seat of Racine County.
A smaller bit of news is that Karas is winning an online poll being conducted by a local newspaper. He is currently at 211 votes, with the nearest competitor having 201 votes.
The endorsement from McKinney follows:
Imagine real change in Racine, Wisconsin that truly reflects our values. Imagine a clean, green city that spends our tax dollars with your security in mind. A city with leadership that tells you the truth and hears you when you speak.
Racine is lucky to have Pete Karas as a candidate for Mayor and will be even luckier when he becomes Mayor. Now that’s the kind of change we can believe in.
Secure that kind of future for Racine. Let Racine become the beacon for sustainability and community that we so desperately need in these times.
I know Pete Karas and trust him.
Please donate what you can to Pete now.
