I think he would be great to run for the LP Presidential bid.
Many Americans for some reason believe non-interventionism is the same as pacifism. Having a retired Admiral could do a lot to calm those fears and help destroy that myth.
For all we know, he might.
He’s no spring chicken, but you don’t necessarily have to be to be a presidential candidate these days.
Out of curiosity, why isn’t the Admiral running for President in 2012?
It would be good to see the LP use people for its public face who appeal to a different type of crowd, such as Loretta Nall and Steve Kubby.
A respected military man gains instant credibility with Americans. He should definitely be used more for our public face.
Peter is right – what can we do to get the LP to put Admiral Colley in more prominent, public positions? I’d be hard pressed to think of a Libertarian with more credibility in her/his chosen field and this would make him the ideal LP presidential candidate in 2012. (On credibility in chosen field, businessmen like John Mackey and Peter Thiel would be of similar stature and I would support either of them to run.)
Admiral Colley makes an enormous contribution to the LNC and his opinions carry a lot of weight with the rest of the committee.
He’s a very thoughtful gentleman and we’re quite fortunate to have him on the team.
