Pakistan Green Party leader Liaquat Ali Shaikh to visit Washington,
DC, April 22-24: available for interview

• Mr. Ali Shaikh will be available to meet reporters at the US Green
Party office, Wednesday afternoon, April 22

• Reception in Mt. Pleasant, Thursday evening, April 23

WASHINGTON, DC — Liaquat Ali Shaikh, founding member and co-chair of
Pakistan Green Party, will be visiting Washington, DC, from Tuesday,
April 21 to Friday, April 24, and will be on hand to meet members of
the media for interviews.

Mr. Ali Shaikh will be at the national office of the Green Party of
the United States throughout the afternoon on Wednesday, April 22.
Reporters are invited to meet him at the office and may also interview
him by telephone. The address of the office is 1711 18th Street NW,
near R Street and a few blocks from Dupont Circle in Washington, DC.

A reception for Mr. Ali Shaikh will take place Thursday evening, April
23, at La Orilla, the home of DC Statehood Green Party members David
Bosserman and Olivia Cadaval in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood of
Washington, DC. The address is 1739 Irving Street, NW and the
reception begins at 7 pm. Reporters and photographers are invited.

The DC Statehood Green Party is hosting his visit. Mr. Ali Shaikh has
already visited Houston, Austin, New Orleans, and Chicago, and after
Washington will continue his US tour in Philadelphia and New York
City.

BIOGRAPHY

Liaquat Ali Shaikh, founding member and co-chair of the Pakistan Green
Party, also founded ‘Pakistan Greens,’ an environmental political
movement and network. He is also a founding member of the Asia
Pacific Greens Network.

He holds a masters degree in public administration/policy from the
University of Sindh (Pakistan) and in public pealth from the
University of Sheffield (UK).

He founded a public health consultancy firm, serving as CEO and
putting to use his expertise in reproductive health, young people’s
health, and gender-related health policies. He has worked for eight
years in international organizations, holding various posts. He has
served as President of Youth, leading Youth Action for Pakistan.

elections and has secured 116 counselor seats throughout Pakistan.
The party boycotted the general election in 2008, along with other
progressive parities.
