Libertarian Mike Beitler, U.S. Senate candidate mourns father’s death.
Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Mike Beitler’s father, Harry Beitler of Greenville, SC, died last night September 21 while in hospice in Hendersonville, NC.
Beitler, age 88, leaves behind two children, son, Mike Beitler, and daughter, Janet Fisher and eight grandchildren.
Dr. Mike Beitler provided the following statement :
“My father worked as an airplane mechanic at Cape Caneveral in Florida, a ‘dream job’ for a high school drop-out, and later, a Plant Clearance Officer for the Department of Defense. He worked hard all his life to raise his family despite several setbacks. He encouraged me to go to college and get an education. He was a life-long Republican, so when I told him I was running for U.S. Senate, he asked if I was running as a Democrat. Upon learning I was running as a Libertarian, he paused and said ‘maybe that’s what we need to straighten out the Republicans.’ My father has had a large influence on me running in this race.”
The funeral is to be held in Greenville, SC on Saturday, September 25.

My condolences to Mike Beitner and family.
