From a blog post at Third Party and Independent Daily, by Cody Quirk:
Independent American Party activist and frequent candidate, Merritt ‘Ike’ Yochum, passed away at 9:30 [on March 25, 2011] of [cancer] at a rehab center in Reno, after being released from the Veterans hospital following surgery to treat the [esophageal] cancer he had been battling for the past year.
NOTE: Text in [brackets] is altered/corrected from original.

-But then again, this is coming from someone that doesn’t even know who the hell Bugs Bunny is- being one of the most recognized American cartoon icons of all time.
You’re a fucking idiot!
BTW, Gary is a field director for the CP, not a lawyer.
You need to get your facts right, Don.
Yet we’re growing bigger and electing more people to office these days, compared to your sweetheart Reform Party.
And our veterans organization has done a way WAY better job of protecting the rights of veterans when compared to a incompetent toilet paper wrapping loser such as yourself.
For starters we actually maintain our website! LOL.

“Mark [Seidenberg], you should really leave matters of American Independent Party history to me, though ……….. ”
[Lake: oh, as the acme of virtue and honesty? How’s that law practice goin’? You are a party to the rotten smell of corruption that has wafted from the Constitution Party since AT LEAST the mid 90s! If you noticed, I do not ask for your imput on college apps, bank loans or reference sheets, any more ……..]
Correct
I wish someone had passed this news along to me. This is very sad news, indeed. Ike Yochum was a stalwart going back to the old days when the Nevada IAP was a state affiliate party of the national American Independent Party chaired by Bill Shearer. From the very beginning, the California AIP always considered the Nevada IAP to be its “sister” party in the new party movement, and REAL American Independents still do. The words may have been inverted in the names (for reasons of Dan Hansen’s preference) but we were always otherwise united in all ways.
I last saw Ike at the Constitution Party National Committee Meeting in Council Bluffs, Iowa in the Fall of 2007. He was a fine man and will be greatly missed.
Mark, you should really leave matters of American Independent Party history to me, though I am glad we can share condolences for Ike Yochum.
Yeah, its a LONG and complicated story about why the words ‘American’ and ‘Independent’ are switched around.
I didn’t even know there was an AIP and an IAP. This is kinda confusing.
BTW, I would list this under the Constitution Party category
Hey Mark, is there a relationship between AIP and IAP? How about CP?
= I can give you an honest answer. Both the AIP and the IAP are sister parties that started back in the late sixties, both were in the CP until the AIP left the CP on legally, and ethically questionable grounds.
The IAP remains in the CP and disapproves with how the ‘recognized’ leadership of the AIP runs their party and behaves toward their own party members, and will not work with the AIP until it’s leaders compromise and begin cooperating with those AIP’ers at odds with the leadership.
I am sad to hear this news. First his wife passes and now him. He was a good man. I had the honor of seating next to him on a train ride from
Salt Lake City to Reno a few years back.
= Thanks. BTW, he kept his Chuck Baldwin for President yard sign out long after the 2008 elections.
What LG said. My condolences as well.
Marc: “Hey Mark, is there a relationship between AIP and IAP? How about CP?”
You haven’t been to this site that much, have you?
That’s not an insult at all. But this question has been a long, tedious battle here between Seidenberg and Grundmann for a long, long time. Good luck opening this can of worms again.
Mr. Montoni – In fact the American Independent Party was never separated from the Constitution Party by any formal vote as documented at TheCorruptionOfAlanKeyes.blogspot.com.; a website which documents the attack upon the Constitution Party by the conservative mole Alan Keyes and his lackeys. Mark Seidenberg is an active agent of both the Anti-Defamation League ( ADL ) and the Southern Poverty Law Center ( SPLC ); 2 organizations which are mortal enemies of our nation and its founding principles.
Don J. Grundmann, D.C. Chairman American Independent Party, California branch of the Constitution Party
myself and Libertarians in NV would like to offer our sincere condolences over the death of Merritt Yochum. An activist such as him will be missed . not only by IAP members but by all liberty loving patriots in NV. RIP IKE …
MarcMontoni
You asked is there a relationship between AIP and IAP. The answer is yes, but it is historical and not currently formal. The AIP former National Chairman was at the same time the
State Chairman of the IAP. His name was Dan
Hansen.
Your second question is “How about CP?”
All relationships with the National Constitution
Party ended on June 27, 2008. The AIP on
that date affiliated with the America’s Independent Party and that July had a different
ticket then the CP. The AIP ticket was Ambassador Dr. Alan Keyes for President and
Pastor Dr. Wiley Drake Sr. for Vice President.
Dr. Don Grundmann, “claims” to be Chairman of
the Constitution Party of California. As of February 10, 2011 that political body had 157
electors spread over 18 counties in California.
Last year on October 18th the CP of California
had 167 electors spread over 22 counties. The Constitution Party is contracting since October 18, 2010.
Don Grundmann has held no office in the American Independent Party since September 2, 2008.
Sincerely, Mark Seidenberg, Vice Chairman,
American Independent Party
