Dr. Jill Stein, Green Party candidate for President released another statement on NDAA.
The President signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into statute. As I described in a video last week, the NDAA authorizes this or any future president to declare anyone — even U.S. citizens on U.S. soil — a terrorist subject to indefinite detention, without trial. This is the kind of unlimited power granted to government leaders in dictatorships, not democracies.
Our civil liberties are the foundation of American liberty. They are also essential for restoring economic justice in this age of unprecedented inequality — where nearly half of Americans are now in the ranks of the poor or near poor, while the richest 400 individuals own as much wealth as the less fortunate half of all Americans combined. To correct such profound disparities, we must be able to speak out, assemble and petition our government for redress — and do so without fear of police violence and the threat of arbitrary imprisonment.

On Wednesday, January 25th, at 8:30pm Eastern, we invite you to participate in The People’s State of the Union: A Green New Deal for America. You’ll hear a realism about America’s situation –and the ways to overcome it– that Wall Street an the Washington establishment don’t want you talking about. We can have an economy that provides jobs for everyone without depressing wages or destroying the environment. We can get Wall Street off our backs and win control of our lives and common future.
Through this special online broadcast, you will hear presidential candidate Jill Stein describe the Green New Deal that can reclaim our future and fulfill the promise of America. Lines will be open for your questions and ideas. All you need is an internet connection and a computer.
Here’s another idea: Host a People’s State of the Union House Party.Use the occasion to share some good news. Your vision for people, peace and the planet finally has a political voice! So invite friends to come listen, celebrate, and consider ways to strengthen our voices in the coming year.

Dr. Jill Stein’s Green Party presidential campaign is off to a winning start. Attractive. Optimistic. Smart. Dr. Jill Stein is hitting just the right U.S. Green Party political notes.
Attendance at state Green Party meetings has gone up since Dr. Stein launched her campaign. Her quest for the Green Party presidential nomination started in October 2011. Since that Stein kick off rally, in her native Boston, Mass Greens across the country have been pleased by her professionalism, and charm. Dr. Stein’s charisma is growing the Green Party. More new, and former Green Party members have joined, and are stepping forward as candidates for U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate. Some Greens are so encouraged by Dr. Jill Stein’s positive, constructive, Green Party building campaign they see the potential for a record number of Greens on the ballot in 2012. A full state of 435 Green Party candidates on the ballot for every U.S. House seat, and 33 for each U.S. Senate seat is at least discussed as possible.
